I need a....I need a...A ride.

Once when I was taking my trash to the roll out, I got stuck in the mud! As "Murphy" will point out, what goes wrong, will. No neighbors around to shout out to, so there I sat in my wheelchair stuck.

I grabbed my phone and started to dial 911, then the little voice in my head played out the scenario for me.

"911 Operator, what is your emergency?"

Me, "Yes, I'm stuck in the mud and can't move.":

Operator, "Sir we are not AAA. If you are stuck in the mud, hang up and call a tow truck."

Me, "You don't understand. I"m not in my car, I am in a wheelchair. On my way to throw my trash away, I got stuck in the mud!"

Operator, now laughing. "Your wheelchair is stuck in the mud" (More laughter!

Me, "Yes, my wheelchair and I are stuck in the mud and I need someone to come and pull me out."

Operator, "Sir, are you drunk?"

Me, "No, it's 9:00 in the morning! I'm stuck!"

Still more laughter from he operator, "What do you suggest?" Even more laughter from those around her.

Me, "I don't know. The Fire Dept? To try and tow me out?"

EVEN more laughter from those around her, "Sir, I will send the Fire Dept to you. Please hang on the line and don't go anywhere!" Open laughter from everyone now!

Once my synapses fired I thought it over. I wasn't going to end up on TV on one of Fox's shows, "Real 911 Calls".

Finally, I was able to roll forward and make my way to the sidewalk and get back to my apartment. Wheels and myself all covered in mud!

    • There is a Grand Canyon-sized chasm between your opinion and the opinions of most former player hockey guys who do this for a living.
    • I can only imagine the **** eating grins on the committee right now. "Oh, Bama didn't deserve it? Oh, Miami didn't deserve it? Suck it, haters!" lol
    • To say that, is gaslighting, because it isn’t true. I mean, maybe one or two people do that but it isn’t the predominant behavior. Even Frank has given him credit. I think particularly the Rams game. A couple of glowing posts.   I know I have. Gotta be honest about it because if you aren’t it undermines what else you say.  But the degree of how far I go with credit, in terms of it being a projection of future performance? Not very far. Acknowledge it, but require more of it. There is a lot of bad play to offset.    I tried to remain passive while the last 9 games (post ankle injury) played out. It is just really hard when the lows won’t go away. I failed. As high as a couple of those highs were, there isn’t enough.    I know it is premature to just say I want to move on, made my decision after 6 of those games ended up pretty much really good or not good enough, but I have had enough of being patient and letting him show the reality either way.  So in my view, he Could still validate himself to a decent degree if he smokes the last three starts. But also in my view I don’t expect to see it. Maybe one more high quality start, would be my expectation. So yes he could still somehow justify having the job next year. If that happened I still wouldn’t have much faith given the last three years and all that has transpired. Again, there is a lot of bad play to offset.
