Taking the Scuba Diving classes.

Always wanted to take diving lessons but never made the time (yet).

I bought scuba lessons for the wife years ago which turned out to be a horrible gift considering she has had numerous surgeries for Crohn's disease and her intestines could rupture if she goes past a depth of about 10 feet (or something like that). Whoops....my bad, and I thought the vacuum I bought her one year for Christmas was a bad gift!

So how long do you have to go to get certified?

Dang, that sucks.

It's 3, 4 hour classes, so 12 classroom and pool hours. Plus, one Lake dive and an open water dive (deep sea). So far it's fun, the book part of it is a little boring, but certainly useful.

Looking online at spear guns now.

Cool!

I'd use SCUBA certification to go down to the Cooper River in SC for some Megalodon teeth...

I snorkeled in the Bahamas and dove to a depth of like 25 feet... My head felt like it was in a vise...

Hopefully I will be grouper fishing 20 miles off Wrightsville Beach within the next few weeks. I can't wait.

Yea, holding your breath while going more than 10 feet, and breathing while you are decending below 10 feet is much different.

Got certified on Guam about 8 years ago.

Used to dive all the time while I was on the island, not really gone since I have been back.

It is a lot of fun and something everyone should know how to do just in case global warmist are right.

Just started them, pretty stoked to start spear fishing.

Should be good times.

Any divers on this board?

I used to be certified. Loved it! I thought that salvage diving sounded like fun! I dove some old quarries where I froze my cajones off! Then I scuba'd in Hawaii with the fishes.

There used to be a dive shop in Matthews that was either named or had a sign in the window that read, "WATER SPORTS!" I looked at that one day and told my GF, that's not what I remember "WATER SPORTS" being about. :D

She told me I was being disgusting. (This form a woman, who when we were about to have an argument, would flash her breasts at me. I always forgot what we were about to argue about!)

I had a subscription to "Skin Diver" (no jokes) for about 20 years. At one time, I had 3 different masks and 4 set of fins, depending on what I wanted to do. I always wanted to do a HALO jump into the water!

When I was in college, a class mate of mine designed a spear gun that worked off the pressure in your tank. If your talk got to low , then it had a safety device and wouldn't fire. It sure beat the heck out of the old bungy cord guns! I think it was put into production.
