DirecTV blows

lightsout

Recommended Posts

It's been raining in my area a lot the past week. I don't know what it is, but now every time a damn cloud passes over, the TV skips or freezes for a few seconds. Then, at least once a day, the whole thing shuts off for 2 minutes and reboots itself. It sucks. I just want to watch Steve Wilkos. :(

I just had to replace my HD/DVR receiver. There was an error on the hard drive. They sent me a new one free, but there is a problem with this one too...I think these models are problems. HR21.

Steve Wilkos? Seriously. Wanna watch some good tv. Check out Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations. It's my new favorite show. And fug direct tv and tv period man. You're online. Just go to Hulu.

I've been a Steve fan since I started watching Jerry as a kid. IDK why. Plus, its not as gay as Maury and not as over the top as Jerry. Seems more real, plus, he doesn't sound like a pacifist. He tells it straight up. But I have checked out No Reservations. Very good show.

My uncle has had the same problem. He's went through 3 replacements, all the same problem.

mine does it too. not as bad as what you describe though. maybe you have a few too many trees in the line of site for the dish? the guy that installed mine says that causes more problems than the rain. the wind pushes the trees around and they interrupt the signal.

Hold out to the end of the year, Direct TV will be getting back with Tivo for HD receivers.

First one lasted a year and a half. I connected the new one last night and its skipping like the other one did. They said they might just send me a different one.

There are some that, with enough wind, COULD, but they are about 50 yards away and the way the satellite points, the angle is pretty extreme. Unlikely, but possible. I know during the Panthers game last Thursday, the audio was on and off the whole first half. IDK if it was weather or trees or ESPN, but something was causing it.

they pissed me off about my remote. they did some update, and after my RF remote for the LR wouldn't work. they walked me through what should have fixed it, and after that they sent me a new one. But then they added $25 to my bill for the remote. WTF? your update messed it up. why do I have to pay for your mistake?

luv directv.

I don't really understand when people lose service. It has to be raining really hard for me to lose any service, and even then it's usually only the hd channels. If I switch to the non-hd equivalent, I can watch just fine still.

I've had the same HR21 model for the DVR and had no issues, either.

Leaps and bounds better than TWC, Directv will actually negotiate pricing with existing customers.

    • You can't keep around a former #1 pick as the backup to his replacement because he wasn't good enough. I think he has two career paths he can take.   The first is as that guy who signs with a new team every year to be the gap starter and/or backup depending on that team's situation.  Think guys like Jameis, Wilson, Brissett the last few years, as he'll be a game manager for them while they try to re-build the roster. The other is as a really good long term backup QB for one team.  He's smart and will make for a great addition to the QB room in film study and game prep.  He won't be a stud replacement if the starter goes down, but he'd be better than most other backups and you know he'll be ready to play when called upon.
    • This is really an offseason topic, but its better than talking in circles about Bryce
