I was reading this story an L Blount fighting at TC, but I was suprised about the statement that there is a new NFL rule that stops a play when a players helment comes off.

Does anyone have further carification on this. This could be interesting in scenerios when a player not involved with the ball such as a linemans helment comes off, also in the MNF game when Eli's helment was knocked off did the paly continue only bc he fumbled the ball?

plus the thread title...wow

So defenses will now try to rip the helmets off during the game..great rule.

Bad rule. A few years ago Witten had his helmet blown off but broke the tackle and kept on gaining a huge chunk of yards.

Yeah, this is a bad rule. Not a Cowtwat fan, but damn, Witten would have lost about 30 yards.

How many players will be willing to take a 15 yard facemask penalty to stop a touchdown? And the fine? Fine will have to be huge to stop this from happening....Bad rule.

haha, I remember that Witten play like it was yesterday. And it was the first thing I thought about when I heard about the new rule change. Seems pretty dumb to be changing any of the rules in football, period. Football became the sport that it is based on the rules that were already in place. Goodell is a panzy. Guess he's just trying to make it so women can play football I suppose.
