Panthers still 12th on Forbes list

According to a study by Forbes Magazine, the Panthers are the NFL's 12th-most valuable franchise, with a current value of 1.037 billion.

That's a 1 percent drop over last year, when the Panthers were valued at 1.049 billion.

The magazine's study showed that 21 of 32 NFL teams dropped in value last year, the first time that's happened since 1998 when they began tracking the league's finances. You'll surely hear plenty about that as the league works to negotiate a new labor deal with the players union.

Owners cited decreased revenue when they opted out of the collective bargaining agreement, setting the stage for a potential lockout beginning next spring.

It must be nice to waste so much money on a mediocre team year after year.

Yep. They may not win playoff games, and they crumble under their expectations each year, but they can build a hell of a stadium full of retail, dining, museums, oh and a football field and seats, with the video screen nearly as large as JJ's ego.
