Solid state drives are kind of fast

I was going to post this in the nerd forum but I'm sure everyone can appreciate this. A raid of 24 256GB SSDs gives 2GB/sec of throughput. This computer opens the entire Office suite in 1/2 a second.

If you don't know, the only drawback is the price. All those drives would cost about $20,000 or so.

Our latest workstation has a single 256 SSD as the boot drive and a 3Gb/s SATA drive as the data drive with a 3TB eSATA raid array for storage... it's pretty damn fast.

It'll open a 2GB color tif in photoshop in about 7 seconds... it takes our older SATA based systems about 2 minutes to open the same file.
