Was Cliff a hoarder?

Matt Foley

Recommended Posts

When Cliff passed away and the news came out about the starved animals all over his property, I have to admit my opinion of him changed instantly (even before hearing about the other stuff). I have no tolerance for animal abuse or neglect. But I was reading about hoarders today in the newspaper and they all start out as people who love their animals and then something just goes astray. And, almost always, the animals end up starving and/or living in horrendous conditions. It's like the people see themselves as the animals' only hope and when the responsibility gets too much, they just give up.

Not sure, seemed like it could have been possible.

It's an interesting point though. I saw one hoarders where they found 5 dead cats under the lady's junk. When she saw them she was very nonchalant, even though she said they were dear to her and she had missed them.

If your gonna talk about someone at least get his name right and it was Clifton. And really do we need another thread about someone who is dead and was already drug through the mud enough to make all of his real friends sick. Anyway we can lock this and go on to talking about some other dead person that isnt here to defend himself. The guy was dying from liver failure and cancer and couldnt even get out of his house to feed his animals. He was in so much pain I talked to him on the phone several nights when he thought he couldnt go on because of the pain. If you didnt know him other than his crazy posts on this board and a tailgate or two then dont make some stupid judgementt because you watched a few to many reality shows. I mean damn, let him rest in peace, is that to much to friggin ask!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chill out, dude. Hoarding is a growing problem in this country, and I was just wondering if that explained the animal situation. People said he loved his animals, and that just didn't jibe with those pictures. If he was a hoarder, then that would explain things.

you make some very valid posts tat...but I think in Meat's defense, the thought to the thread was more in defense, not in attack!

also in defense, I called him Cliff way more than I ever called him Clifton! I called Clifton my friend as well, and never really got closure on the whole animal thing, other than knowing he was in a poo load of pain.

Tat, I'm all for respecting the dead, and I took up for him when there were disparaging remarks posted that week after his death... but I don't feel that that means we can't talk about him at all. A lot of people on here knew him, and some not as well as others, but it is curious to me to try and reconcile the person I knew on here with what happened...

I don't mean to speak for Meat, but it seemed to me that he was just asking a question, not talking him down.

He had cancer and his liver was so bad he couldnt even get off the couch most days to even cook for himself. He had food for his animals less than 30 feet away from them. He just couldnt do it and he had too much pride to ask for help which was his fault for sure but he wasnt a hoarder and he wasnt a bad person. The first game back this year was really tough for me because he wasnt gonna be there with a smile and a ton of food and a good time. My daughter thought he was awesome and so did my nephews. If you didnt truly know him then I dont think you should speculate. I miss him and thought he was a great guy and when I see these posts its like your talking about a family member and even if you didnt mean any harm with it, I took it that way because of all the other crap that got posted when he died.

You talk about hoarders like they are terrible people. They aren't. I read all about them today. They start out with the best intentions. I know of one girl now who calls her place Misfit Manor and she takes in animals all the time. But what happens is either they get sick or they get buried in the responsibility, and they lose that pet owner's relationship to the animal and the animals end up starved and living in their own feces/urine etc. It's a phenomenon, not a reality show.

    • He's handing off play calling duties to fuging Brad Idzik as well so, either that mouth breather can run the playbook and Canales can grow as an all around head coach or it will be a horrible decision and both of them and BY can screw off. I'm fine with that as long as it isn't just another excuse for BY to get another year with another coach worthy of working around his limitations as a qb.
    • Not only for Andersen but the whole team, having not beat the Habs this season before tonite.  Shows them that they aren't jinxed.
    • I understand why people say things like it could be worse in relation to Tepper but it just doesn't jive for me. Are the optics bad? Yes. Would I want her to be the owner of my team? No. But I mean she's only been owner for a year and the Colts overall are a better run organization. As far as I know they've also never had the distinction of having the worst win percentage in all of professional sports either. Tepper has owned this team for 8 years and about the only thing that has been consistent has been the ability to continue to find different ways to achieve new lows. Even now people are saying things are different yada yada but we said these same things at certain points under Rhule Fitterer and Reich. I'm going to wait to see how the rubber meets the road this upcoming season before I make any strong conclusions about anything in relation to the longevity under this franchise going forward.
