Big Ben will be suspended 4 games.

this kinda makes the NFL look like bitches. I mean what kind of message are you sending when you reduce someone's suspension for no reason. The fact is he still violated the NFL conduct policy with the sexual assault charges. The NFL gave him a 6 game suspension b/c of that, so just leave it at that. Nothing has changed. This is just the NFL bailing out the Steelers b/c they know if Big Ben plays, its more money for the NFL.

It was laid out before hand if he met certain criteria that it could be reduced.

If I'm not mistaken Vick also has his suspension reduced. Has nothing to do with favortism or the NFL trying to help out the Steelers.

Come on! You know good and well that if there were a black rapist in the NFL, then...

Oh wait...

For my part, I also hate that the suspension was reduced. I don't honestly believe that Roethlisberger is any less a prick than he was before.

But, as with Vick, if he met the pre-set conditions that the NFL put in place, you have to abide by the agreement.

Stevens was accused 1 time, unlike Big Ben and is not a high profile QB in the NFL. Most casual fans of the NFL dont know who he is or what team he plays for right now. A better example would be if Vick (a high profile QB) had did this or Donovan McNabb (a high profile QB). Been accused of rape or sexual assault twice in one year and had it reduced to the length of a banned substance offense. No way either plays at all this season if they did that. No way either makes it out of Georgia without taking a mugshot first. Ben's whiteness and affiliation with a "flagship" team like the Steelers has helped him receive preferential treatment. Im sure Vick in a college bar in Georgia accused of sexual assaulting a white woman along with his goons would go over well on these boards and in the sports world. This thread would be 20 pages by now had that occurred and it would've been the JUICY sports story of summer 2010.

KT said it...Big Ben is a high profile player on one of the NFL Sweetheart teams and the league doesn't want him sitting on the sidelines for 6 games. Nothing to do with race, it's all about $$$$$$$.

For what it's worth though KT...I'm as pissed about it as I would if it were Vick, so your argument is lost there with me, but I know what you are saying.

I'm going to stick with the white on white and say Jake Delhomme or Matty Hass wouldn't have gotten a reduction like Big Ben did!

I believe it is about the bucks. The Steelers are to be featured under the lights in Prime Time 5 times the second part of the season. Have you seen how bad the Steeler QBs have performed, and now Leftwich is hurt as well. A steeler team buried behind the Ravens and Bengals is bad for TV ratings.

    • It's definitely a historical issue at QB but to be perfectly blunt, we also don't do a good job of really developing almost any position if you look at the last decade or so. I tend to be on the side of that being far less a development issue than an evaluation deficiency.  I think we are in the situation at QB2/3 recently due to the overall roster being absolutely abhorrent and the QB classes being quite thin. It is harder to justify another Matt Corral(or several) when you can potentially get a real two deep contributor at other positions.  But, it was a lot of hard work to get to the point where are roster is so incredibly bad that luxury picks literally are not in our vocabulary.  This is the reaping what you sow portion of our history.
    • That is what I meant about our front office. They are like someone filling out a March Madness bracket based on preference of uniform colors and mascots. There's no rhyme of reason to some of these fugg'n mind numbing decisions they make.  They go all in on these flimsy-@ss prospects and are gun shy when it comes to more solid prospects.  It's literally maddening and the reason I stopped being so emotionally involved in this team. Heck the only reason I'm active on the board today is one, it's my day off and two, it's cut down time.
