Steve Smith Vs. Aqib Talib is key

Last year Smith had just 4 catches for 84 yards vs Tampa Bay (including a 66 yarder). This can be partly attributed to the Panthers game plan, but you can't ignore that the former Buc killer (and my favorite player to play for the Panthers) was not dominating the Bucs like he once did.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Talib is the the best CB in the NFC AINEC. Behind Revis and Aso, he is the absolute best. We will utilize this by playing Quincy Black and Geno Hayes on the LOS every play. Our DTs and LB will be in your backfield before Stewart and Williams can even touch the ball. This isn't the soft coverage of the Tampa 2 anymore (we only ran one play of cover 2 in the whole game vs. the Browns). We play 30% of the snaps with a three man front, with McCoy at the 5 and Miller at NT. We will blitz the living poo out of you and force Moore to beat Talib and T-Jax. If he can't, the bucs will win.

Our past two drafts, we have spent three first day picks on DTs. The days of pushing Ryan Sims and Chis Hovan four yards into the backfield are over. These might be three of the best four DT prospects in the past two years.

Hopefully you don't blitz Moore too much because I'm not sure Jimmy could chuck the ball downfield 60 some yards to Smitty.

I'm not buying it that you guys will stop the run...

They didn't even slow down the run against the Browns, so I am thinking that Williams and Stewart are going to trounce all over their D. By the end of the game everybody on TB's D will look like they are wearing #88 from all of the shoe prints on them.

Teams that blitz get eaten up by the run. Look at the Saints, we always score plenty against them. The problem is they have Drews Brees and score as well. You guys have Josh Freeman and little offense at all. Play Tampa 2 and you lose by 7, blitz all day and lose by twice that on big plays once we get to the second level and nobody is home.

I guess you didn't see Brian Price dominate our pro-bowl RG in training camp. Or Gerald McCoy wreaking havoc on every play in week one. Did you notice that Roy Miller led all rookie DTs in tackles and sacks last year? And he was our third DT.

No, didn't see any of those things, no one in TB saw it either unless they were at the game. Which means that not many people in general did since the game was blacked out.

Looks good on paper until you realize that a) who cares what went on in TC, especially TB's, B) my great gandmother 10 years in her grave could beat up on Steinbach, Mack, and Womack, c) no one but Bucs fans could give two shits about Roy Miller.

Oh, and that other guy you forgot. Joe Thomas, you know the all-pro? I never said you had to give two shits about our d-line, I just said they were going to dickslap your joke of an o-line on Sunday

    • I’m an optimist thru and thru. I love any win this team can muster, and Bryce did what he could to keep the team in it, but he’s why the team was out of it to begin with.  I like the guy, but he is not… he’s just not it… and I was swayed by the way he finished last season, but his physical limitations will never be overcome. A one arm tackle stopped him in his tracks en route for 6, among several other plays where an even average starter in the league succeeds.  A franchise QB is supposed to be his own cheat code. Bryce needs a cheat code dude, that is not him, to win. Chuba CARRIED (literally) his ass last season. Thielen bailed him out EVERY game he played in last season. Today: Rico turned in one of the best games in franchise history, Tet was unguardable and put up at least 100 yards on his own (PI yards included),  and the defense basically pitched a shutout after going down big so they could beat one of the worst teams in the NFL.
    • Jimmy came thru today I hope he is active next week   (2) NFL on X: "Bryce Young to Jimmy Horn Jr. on 4th down! MIAvsCAR on FOX/FOX One https://t.co/HkKw7uXVnt https://t.co/FYOfsxtAMk" / X
    • Rico 10000% saved Bryce Young from being benched for the Dallas game.  The way that game was going there was going to be no way to trot Bryce out next week at home if it kept going like it did.  Bryce probably is safe from bench risk until the next home and home presents itself.    He can’t be playing bad going into that next Atl game and then lay an egg in it.
