We need Jake Delhomme back ....up!(Not crazy = we need a leader!)

Aside from all the other problems that are being talked about...the biggest one I see right now with the Panthers is LACK OF LEADERSHIP!

John Fox doesn't have this team or the fans. Obviously. Matt is not that guy. And Clausen although looks like he could have what it takes from a skill stand point to be our franchise quarterback, he needs some help in how to lead a team. We need someone that can glue this team together. That's the only guy that I see doing that in a short amount of time.

Bring back Jake as either back-up or temporary starter, and make it very plain what we want from him. His leadership, his fire and his ability to get guys around him. Then get him to teach that to Clausen.

Jake doesn't belong with the Browns, he doesn't have many years left and if he is going to retire, it should be as a Panther anyway. Jimmy doesn't need to learn skill from Jake....but Jake has what Jimmy needs to be a complete package: Team play, Passion, Fire, Leadership.

Then next year...part ways with Mr. Fox. It's so obvious without Jake, this team and the fans are even more detached from Fox. I was wrong. It wasn't Fox that kept Jake around, it was Jake that kept Fox around.

I can see how this team has 0 heart without that guy. So does this coach.

Two years ago I vouched I would not watch the Panthers if Jake and Fox were both still on this team. They are not, but I feel we let the wrong guy walk away.

Maybe it's just me loving the guy so much, but I miss seeing him on this team. And I miss seeing at least ONE guy other than Smith be PISSED OFF on the sidelines after boneheaded moves. Matt looked desperate. And like the Terminator said anger is more usefull than despair!

Matt as a starter. With Jimmy as back up. NO

Jake as starter with Matt as back up. NO

Jimmy as starter with Jake as back-up! YES!

I love it when guys just read a thread title and quickly reply.

Did either one of you read my post? I'm not asking for Jake to be our starting QB.

I read your post, did I ready mine? i said no, we need offense. we have leaders, what good does leadership do when you don't have offense? we have leaders on this team.

I can reverse that and say what good is an offense without leadership?

AND REALLY? Who is our leader on offense? Who out there today LOOKED like they had passion, looked like was in control, who was pulling guys together?

Please tell me who?

The one guy that showed any kind of heart was Smith when he tried grabbing that ball out of frustration.

Am I the only one that remembers how Jake acted? His animation....the pissed of screaming limbs waving in the air......

Again, I'm not talking about skill, and yes we need a lot of help on offense, but even if you have the best talent in the world, you will not get anywhere without leadership.

You can win with a scrub team if they have a lot of heart and great leadership. Right now we have neither! Jake can fix one problem, Clausen can help fix the other.

But right now even another great receiver, or even if Clausen turns out to be Joe Montana....that won't help a team if he doesn't also bring the guys together.

Don't worry, the rational posts will resume tomorrow. Just bear with the forum today.

Well I'm still saying the same thing today. Jake coming back as our back-up QB to mentor Clausen and bring some heart back to this team would be a great move.

Nothing irrational about that, imo. Other guys on here are calling for a veteran QB. Why have that, when we have a possible franchise QB in Clausen that just needs some positive leadership mentoring.

Why bring in Vinny T, or some other dude when we had a guy that's THE definition of TEAM PLAYER, heart and leader in Delhomme and would probably be very willing to pass that on to Jimmy.

Delhomme had all the qualities Jimmy's missing in order for Jimmy to become a great franchise QB. Delhomme WAS our franchise QB for 7 years and the hate and disrespect on this board for this guy is very ridiculous and says a lot about some of the fans here.
