Jimmy Clausen Press Conference. I feel bad for this kid. Jimmy stop this now.

I respectfully disagree with Moore did not appear to have the same control as he did after Delhomme was hurt and Matt received his chance.

As for this Ask yourself this. Do you think Jimmy is playing more cautious than Moore? I do not think this is accurate, if anything Clausen seemed willing to take a few chances. You may say he "dumped it off" but if you review the game again you will see that was his only options during those plays.

I do actually. I did think he was playing cautious today but not because of him dumping it off. I actually thought those were ok plays. But I have already brought up the fact a couple of times that the only significant drive was made up of mostly passes on the sideline. That's worrysome. Underthrowing a receiver on multiple occasions is also typically a sign of being cautious. Another thing was him talking about how the reason he didn't go for Smith enough was because he had double coverage. He needs to understand that's normal. You don't shy away from Smith though. You try to figure out how to get him the ball.

His pasess today did not look as sharp as they did last week.

And we'll just have to disagree on the other part. While he played nowhere near as good as last year I thought Matt had a sketchy game his first game but improved for his second. But I felt like overall, Matt was more in control of this team than Jimmy was yesterday.

This is what's on the front page of this forum originally posted by Mr. Scott with which a lot of people seemed to agree:

"CONFIDENCE: Some guys think they’re in charge. Others know they are. Clausen is the latter. He may be younger than a lot of the guys he’ll be commanding on offense, but he won’t go into the game wide-eyed and awestruck. This is where he expected to be, and when you see him break the huddle and walk to the line, you’ll know it. Likewise, when he looks at the opposing defense, he’ll be seeing positions, not star players. And there’s a toughness about him that should keep him from being afraid, even when one of those big fellas lays a good smack on him. A guy named Jake had a similar mojo in years past, and it got him a lot further than his talent alone would have taken him. Likewise, there’s a fellow by the name of Steve Smith who often plays best when he plays angry. This may be the first season where you see the guy throwing the ball look just as ticked off as the guy catching it."

I did not see that yesterday. I do not see that in that press conference. I did not see Delhomme in Jimmy at all yesterday. I do see him being pretty wide-eyed in that clip. Never once did I get the feeling of "man Jimmy's in charge". Not even close.

Which is why I say he wasn't ready. The kid needed more time. And I honestly feel bad for him.

PS. This will be my last response for tonight but I will read your response and if still up to date will reply next time I get back on. I have got to get some sleep. Good night folks.

Another statement backed by facts. You are full of them. And you know what that is. Clear evidence.

lol. You are a funny guy and what facts did you have again besides Moore having 1 TD to Clawesomes none and about 3 points higher rating? Cause if that and your amateur Dr. Phil impression of reading people, are all you have then you have wasted all of our time.

My FACTS were in my 2nd post btw

Never once did I get the feeling of "man Jimmy's in charge". Not even close

....and Moore was in charge? lol

He isn't even in charge of his own hygiene, look at him.

now not even confidently answering the question who is your starter next week....with Jimmy...

The one thing we agree on. Fox is being a dick by not already saying Clawesome is the starter indefinitely.

? Are you saying Clausen should not start next week?

Nope the opposite. I meant if he chooses not to start Jimmy that would be a poor decision.

His team mates think diffent quotes from the team...

I think things went very well with Jimmy today, other than the fumbled snaps," LaFell said. "He was in control of the huddle all the time. Jimmy wasn't nervous at all.

"I like for him to not wear a visor so I can see his eyes. You could look at him and tell that he was calm, tell that he was ready to play."

He does not look like himself on that podium. This kid was so not ready to start yesterday. Fox is a bastard. He managed to take two guys that had promise and pretty much destroyed one's career while endangering another's. Fox threw him to the wolves.

Hey Jimmy, here's a couple of tips.

First, I know you have been criticized for putting your foot in your mouth, with me being one of those folks that thinks so but for crying out loud.......loosen up man! I'd rather have a punk or brat with confidence than someone's who "too afraid" to say the wrong thing.

At one point(1 minutes:19 seconds) you said:

"I'm going to listen to what he[smith] has to say and .....you know try to ...whatever he's saying.....you know.....do that....you know.....whatever it may be."

You were going to do whatever Steve Smith wanted? Yeah you do..;).....but.... DON'T SAY THAT ON TV! You are the QB! Smith doesn't RUN this team. Poor Guy. He's behaving with the wrong attitude of acting out of not wanting to make a mistake. STOP IT! GO MAKE SOME MISTAKES!

And second, well it's the same as the first. LET GO! Play then worry about the backlash. Try to not say anything stupid, but don't let that trying stop you from just being yourself.

I have a feeling this could have affected his head a little bit yesterday if he's playing and practicing with that mentality. It's so obvious he needs time to mature, not just as a QB but as a man.

Anything to get Moore back to the starting role, right Ace?

    • I was playing around with the ESPN playoff predictor and it shows if 49ers and Rams finish with same record, the Rams hold the tiebreaker.
    • This is my thinking as well. Seattle played as good as they could on defense and Panthers still had a chance until those back to back turnovers.  I don't think the Rams played particularly well in their game against us, alot things went our way in order to win.  Someone pointed out the Rams were bad on the east coast road games and Seattle has been the better road team but they just fought a hard contested game against the Panthers, and now they travel to San Fran this week for their biggest game of the season to determine the division and if they are the overall #1 seed in the NFC or will be traveling for the Wildcard weekend.  If they lose they then travel back cross the country to play a team they've just beaten two weeks ago, not saying they won't be favored against the Panthers but the energy of hosting our first playoff game in 10 years along with the get back effect of having just lost to this team could be huge.
    • I don’t know about shadowing and all that, but according to this, whatever we are doing is working
