As I said, you must be the most insightful poster ever. You know things for a fact, without ever seeing the kid play one game in the NFL. Hell, he hasn't even been on the field against defenses that matter. (Pre-season defenses aren't the same.)

The kid's got talent. Loads. Sure he's small. Didn't everyone say the exact same thing about Steve Smith when he was drafted? "He's undersized! He won't be able to play in the NFL! He can't take a hit!"

And giving up a 2nd for him could be nothing in the long-term. Hurney knew where he had him on his board. It didn't matter what Mel Kiper said. It didn't matter what Todd McShay said. It didn't matter what Mike Mayock said.

You have no idea what the kid can bring. Until you see him play a single snap, much less a game, hold off on your "I KNOWS DIS KID BE TEH SUX. HE NO GUD."

Keep drinking the kool-aid buddy.

Plain and simple he will never amount to anything in the NFL.

FO made a mistake. Life goes on.

You don't draft players in the NFL because they are nice guys.

No one on here wants AE to be a bust, I would assume that everyone wants him to be the next SS. What we are pissed about is that we gave up a 2nd rounder for a project/developmental pick, and we are a bad team, in need of some true NFL talent.

You pick up developmental and project players at the bottom of the draft, or in undrafted free agency.

Not 100% true, if a guy is an amazing athlete and showed in college that he had the FB IQ to make a switch and perhaps backup at his spot....you take risk in the draft...2,3 and 4th round... the draft itself is a risk for teams.

It's not really were a player should be picked, its does your team want the player, does he fit the team....Is he worth the risk? If so you make the move and draft him....

In the 2010 draft in the 2 and 3rd rounds that I can think of.

Developmental players taken...

Jared Veldheer - Raiders

Jason Worilds - Steelers

Daniel Te'o-Nesheim - Eagles

Moeaki, Tony - Chiefs

Donald Butler - Chargers

Edwards, Armanti - Panthers

And the list could be bigger and if you want to get techincal about it the Giants first rounder JPP, is a developmental player...He played the in Sub division for one and only played there 1 season on defense....Sounds like a pretty big reach....hmmmmm

Garbage. At this pace of development he will not play much at all this year even with the worst/youngest WR corps in the league. Any other team with decent WRS he would likely be released

Nothing wrong with drafting a prospect to develop.

But you don't give up a 2nd round pick. The FO did not intend to have him develop for a year or two.

Just admit he is not what we thought he was.

Actually, I didn't think he would do much this year, specifically early on...If he didn't get the PR downs he wasn't going to play and considering that it was the first time he'd ever done it....

Now get off you high horse and let the player develope like all wr's get to develop. the reason they took him when they did is because other teams were planning on doing the same thing, he had an amazing practice session with teams catching the ball and fielding Punts before the draft....He wasn't going to make it to the 5th round much less the 6th or 7th and theres a good chance he didn't make it out of the late 3rd/early 4th range.

They were talking about it on NFLN during the draft right before carolina moved up to get him and after the pick. That NE was in talks with a few teams to move up for him as well as the team picking behind them....

New England hasn't exactly been known for having very good drafts recently though.

Still very very good, no doubt. Louis is small, no 2 ways about it. He is likely a sub package lb in nickel packages or specialized WLB. Be fine ST gunner to start for sure. 6 foot flat and 220lb is pushing it for a starting LB. At 10 to 20lbs less than the other LBs he'd better be closer to the top in most timed drills. He's gonna be challenged when some of the wrs in the class can matchup bigger stronger faster, much less TE in the run game.  Yeah instinct matter and he has them, but that size is a massive red flag compared to many of the other LBS in this class.    Rodriguez is the LB that really climbed this week from a pure grit guy to great flash with athleticism people wrote off cause he was a QB at first at UVA. 18.4mph in the backpedal. Production the last 2 years were great. I'd be thrilled with him as the future mike.   Hill likely moved out of 51 and into the top 45 picks ( Ravens at 45 I can't imagine don't bite if he makes it there). Honestly Hill imo is a 1st rounder and I'd be ok with him as he fits the MLB we have missed the last few years. People would crow it's a reach but he's top 30 all-time I'm RAS for a LB at 9.9+ . Plus he was big time in big games when he was healthy. And that br a big check: meds.

      Miller, Melo, Coby, Moose, and Bridges all on the floor at the same time must be a nightmare for defenses lol. Switch one out for Kon and still a nightmare. Coby really does bring a true 6th man value and looks like he could start if Melo was out after only a few games of getting his feet wet.
