Realistically is there a better movie in the history of cinema than Starship Troopers

Well as a Heinlein fan I was bitterly disappointed -at first. Verhoven seemed to make a mockery of Heinleins points, positive and negative, of facism, espirit de corps, etc. And of course the entire premise of the humans and enemies fight was removed - no rocket suits, no Skinnies, all of that. It became hundreds of people shooting M16s carrying unlimited ammo.

As time went on I started to appreciate it for what it was - and as an effects geek, it has a place in my heart for probably being the last big effects movie to not use CGI. The ships were terrific pieces of art. Loved the ultra violence, the propaganda and the editing. Hated everything that skank Denise whateverhenamewas touched. She was gawdawful.

 Pantha_Sons #1 and #2 caught on to that and they were 7 and 9. We bird hunt and they wanted a SST shotgun cuz you never have to reload it.

cwg is right on.

That broad nearly killed the movie.

Still can't figure out why groundpounding was necessary....but without it, no bughunt, so meh.

Say what you want about Denise Richards lack of talent but her bewbies make up for that, imho.

I liked the groundpounding because it shows that no matter how advanced and badass your technology is, it always comes down to the soldier and his rifle *single tear*.

Sapce Above and Beyond was another good show but it was on TV. Alien killing FTW....

Dina Meyer said that the director got them all prepared for their coed shower scene by having the whole cast stand around a stage, and each cast member would take turns walking out on the stage naked. She said by the time they got done they were all parading around and flexing and it really made them less inhibited with their bodies.

I loved the movie when it came out, but it still bugs me (get it?) that their ammo was so useless. It took hundreds of shots to kill one bug? Really?

Think M-16 vs an AK-47!

You are correct. I have done my reading sir...

- Humans are more important than Hardware.

- Quality is better than Quantity.

- Special Operations Forces cannot be mass produced.

- Competent Special Operations Forces cannot be created after emergencies occur.

But I would like to respectfully submit that if they can haul those poor grunts asses across interstellar space, and Doogie Howser can read minds, I would expect at the very least some kind of kickass exoskeleton/supersuit/superweapon rather than a no-reload M16, a brainbucket and a set of tights like they got.

Just don't seem right.

And I think they could have just taken off and nuked the entire site from orbit.

It is the only way to be sure. ;):D
