If Moore Maintains or Exceeds His Performance from Today for the Rest of the Season..

Let him play the rest of the season. See how he does next season bring in a free agent veteran for competition and to come in if he does stink it up. Clausen let the guy watch and learn. Give him a chance to win the job next year but still need a 3rd viable QB.

This and address the O line in the offseason.

An 8-8 record keeps him here for years and sends Jimmy Clausen into career back-up land.

7-9 is a QB toss up for the new coach to deal with. Keep him? Start him? Let him walk?

Anything 6-10 or worse and Moore is gone. I predict to Seattle.

9-7 and above won't happen. The 5 losses put us too deep in the hole.

Fox might get another contract here if he can turn things around. It wouldn't shock me to have Fox back as HC.

We do need a veteran QB on our roster to back up Moore in case of injury. As I predicted, Moore played well and he isn't as bad as he looked at the begining of the season. He looked better because the pass protection has improved greatly, as well as the WR play. Moore had the time he needed to calm down and find his rhythm, and the WRs were in sync with him. When the 49ers did manage to get some pressure, it was too late to rattle Moore.

Looking ahead, we'll face teams that are a lot better at pressuring the QB. It's critical that our O-line can keep the pressure off Moore long enough for him to settle into the game and find his rhythm. Moore is terrible when he is in a state of terror, to the point where he will throw the ball directly at defenders. To avoid him getting into that state of mind, we need to run even more sceen plays, and 100% effort from our O-line in pass protection. A calm Matt Moore can make all the throws we need him to make in our system. A rattled Moore will throw the ball to ANYONE.

I'll judge Moore based on how he plays when the pass protection is good, and our WRs are playing well. For this season, Moore is -2, +1 in my book. But I'm not going to count the first 2 games heavily against him. We all saw how poorly the O-line and WRs were playing. Is it any wonder why Moore had a meltdown?

first off you are assuming Moore plays the rest of the season, it's a 50/50 chance that we are 1-7 or 2-6 after 8 games. we play the steelers, ravens, falcons(twice) who will be in hunt for postseason play & will not look past us. some of the other teams we play have shown they can do something we haven't most of the year(score points).so we could be 4-8 or worse heading into dec so i have to think they play clausen if that happens.
