With Moore Gone, Clausen to Shine.

There is a reason to come out early if he is the projected #1 pick... that could go down next year.

not saying he will come out, but if he was injured or just didn't play as well next season his stock could drop dramatically.

Very true. LaFell and Hardy were both considered first round talent as uderclassmen. Instead they stayed in school, and their stock plummeted. If the goal of every college player is to be set for life, why not take it when it is offered. Even with a rookie cap, he will be a multimillionaire.

I thought Luck has stated his degree is very important to him.

Plus the numbers don't lie when it comes to QBs and staying for their senior season. He seems like a smart dude and maybe he wants to be rich and successful, not just rich.

I dunno.

but Matt Leinart would agree

Are you trying to say he wasn't getting his money while at USC anyway? He figured, take Ballroom dancing, live in my downtown loft, get paid, and try and win a national championship OR just get paid and have to actually work hard.

I don't know if he woulda gone #1 anyway after all his workouts.

True about the workouts but at the time people were not too sure about the Qbs coming out in 2005. I have a feeling the 49ers would have picked him. Who knows.

They could have but I thought there was a reason they went Smith over Rodgers towards the end but I can't remember. Maybe they would have taken Smith no matter what.

That draft seems like this one for QBs. No real clear cut #1 coming out so it's anyone's guess. I'm really afraid people are making Luck be that guy just because there is no one else.

I remember I was watching College Gameday one morning and I think Herbstreet(sp?) said in the first round this year 6 QBs would be drafted. I laughed so hard I almost peed my pants.

I mean I will never know the circumstances involved if you are a QB prospect coming into the league, but if u have a viable option at being the first pick of the draft u take it. You can always go back to school and finish your degree. You will never have the opportunity to make an extra 30 million dollars. Have u ever seen a QB who is almost a lock to be the first pick in the draft stay another year at school and then come out the next year and be a #1 pick again? If so it is very rare.

I agree it's very rare but it literally just happened last year.

I think Luck might stay especially if Harbaugh does. Harbaugh turned down some jobs last year so there is no saying he won't do it again. It depends who has the #1 pick this year as well. If Dallas has it do they draft a QB? Doubtful. I know some of the fans think we will but if we have it do we draft a QB after the FO told Clausen he was the future?

I think there is a lot that goes into it. Most people would see the money and jump but even if he was the #10 pick but stayed an extra year, history shows he will have a better career and possibly earn a second and third big contract. You think Alex Smith or Jamarcus Russell or those type guys are going to make more money overall? They got one nice payday but aren't going to see the nice big extensions after proving themselves.

I'm not trying to say what he will do or what he should do just arguing both sides of it. I think it's a great topic with lots of things that go into it and it comes down to the individual, their background, and what is more important to them.
