Clausen actually looked like a pro QB today

top dawg

Defense has been bad the last two weeks. That's the only way to put it. Giving up over 30 points in both contests and being unable to stop anyone on 3rd down...

The offense wasn't good, but the defense was bad.

OL play can impact QB and RB play, too. That's why they call it a team. When multiple facets of the team fail to perform, the team suffers. This isn't just about Clausen, but a failure that goes beyond one player.

when your offense doesn't score......it is only a matter of time before the D starts giving up plays in games. We have the worst offense in the NFL and that is going to cause the D to give up lots of points eventually. Defense was no worse than the offense on Sunday. Offense has been so horrific at times it has now skewed things where bad play is now being viewed different.

it isn't just about Clausen. However, our problems all season long have started at the QB position. (that is if we leaving coaching for another thread).

nobody is telling you to believe he's a savior of anything. but it's not a question of MATT MOORE VERSUS JIMMY CLAUSEN anymore. We're just saying he showed some solid improvement and hope he continues it. He's a rookie on a bad team. of course he isn't going to look great! he still lead the offense to scores, just not enough. That falls on him, yes. He didn't make as many plays as I'm sure he'd have liked, but he did make some, which, frankly, is better than the none we've had most of this year.

The defense was absolutely abysmal yesterday. Despite the fact we actually ran time off the clock, the fact we had some nice drives, the fact we scored, had good field position, etc, they could NOT stop the bucs.

The only people bringing Matt Moore into this are the Clausen fans, no one is talking about Matt.

I don't want him to look great? Is Bradford great? Is McCoy great? No, but they are a hell of a lot better than Clausen.

He led the offense to scores? He had one drive of 50+ yards and it resulted in a FG. He had another drive of 3 yards. If the defense and ST didn't set him up we'd have 3 points this game. 3. Three.

There was one nice drive.

Not according to many on here, he's "good" already. The other rooks have shown they can play. Clausen is still taking babysteps and just showing us he doesn't always f*ck it up but he hasn't shown he can play.

again the point at which you give up on a QB is very far down the line. Being a QB is a tough job. Not always fuging it up is enough for me to support him unless he really starts fuging it up.

TheRealDeal is basing his judgments off of more than his games this season. He has watched him play since he grew up or what not. Arguing with him right now is honestly pointless - you won't convince him and he won't convince you. He's fun to discuss with but believe me, on this issue you won't convince him at all. :P

We'll just have to see how Clausen pans out.

You sure about that? I remember the game I went to, plenty of the receivers were getting open. Jimmy was just too scared to throw it downfield

He could be more aggressive. He tends to lock on one receiver without scanning the field. That takes some time to develop at the pro level. I don't know the game you are referring to but he could of not had time to look down field because of play action. I don't know. Whenever he checks the pass down to the running back or tight end which is a lot, he thinks no body is open. He could be playing scared because of defensive pressure and not having enough time to scan and throw down the field. I guess my point is while he does have some responsibility for that it might not be his entire fault. You have to give a rookie confidence in order to play well and right now he doesn't have it.
