Troy Smith

Back in Buckeyeland, Coach Jim Tressel resisted the fans urging to turn him into a running quarterback and taught him how to pass instead. I wish more college coaches would do that with athletic quarterbacks. It'd greatly improve their future prospects.

Unfortunately, Tressel couldn't make him taller. Baltimore went for the 6'6 Joe Flacco instead.

It's possible for an NFL quarterback to compensate for lack of height (Brees is the best example) but it isn't easy and it'll take smart coaching.

Jury's still out, but I'd like to see him succeed. Maybe if he does we'll have more Jim Tressels at the college level.

I'm a Buckeye fan, so...

I think he has players like Smith & Pryor buy into the fact he's trying to give them a shot in the NFL at QB, which is their dream. Going to be interesting to see what he can do with Pryor. I was impressed with how Smith transformed through his time under Coach Tressel.

How do you think the injury to Gore impacts Singletary and Troy Smith's jobs?

Especially now I think if they pull out some clutch wins down the stretch, even if they just miss the playoffs, it may be enough. Losing a player of Gore's caliber should be crippling. if it isn't, it says a lot about the team (especially the offense) and the coach, I think.

It's difficult to believe they can continue their decent play now. Troy Smith has done a great job and probably should have been given a realistic chance to unseat Smith before the season started, however Gore is literally the only guy they had running, it's no wonder he picked up a serious injury sooner or later. Beyond Gore, their two QBs are their leading rushers and with Westbrook & Anthony Dixon next on the depth chart they are really going to have to change the way they run. They will definitely pick someone up, but who? Not many out there...

Nice straw man. Glad to see you still haven't come to terms your bigotry.

Nothing straw man about the fact that the only time you make stupid comments like the one you made prior is when I praise a black QB. You're a black QB hater masquerading as partial. No matter how many Andrew Luck threads overflow in the NFL draft forum I'd never expect Brandon to tell those folks they're only doing it cuz he's white. Not in your DNA. People on this board can talk about a white QB all day til the cows come home and it wouldnt trigger an immature response from you. Just another example of someone who only knows and has been exposed to one thing his whole life and when someone deviates from that he gets pissy and takes it personal.

You could've posted that gif for him, but I notice you did not. His comment didnt really add any value to this thread. No matter how outrageous or off topic someone is to attack me, I know you got their back, no matter what. The devils advocate. LOL.

Yeah, poor King Troll... everyone's attacking him.

The broken record was for your constant nattering about how we all hate black QB's and all we want is a white QB. So silly.

Checked the "texting Jeff Fisher" thread? Funny how you don't respond when someone busts your ass like I did yesterday.

"we". I was talking to Brandon. Let me guess biscuit, all white people are the same, and when I diss one, I diss them all huh? There's something to be said that when I call out a particular poster about hating black QBs, your instinct kicks in and you try to "save them". No one defends white racism and stereotypes toward blacks as good as you  Devils advocate at work I see.

The fact you quote a dumbass like Jason Whitlock (who just recently flipped his argument in the Vince Young saga) and take a horrible coach like Jeff Fisher's back is hardly busting ass.

NC Biscuit, you should just do like them other guys and make a "white running back" thread to vent.

Yeah, magically you forget how you spout that garbage in every post you make... yet have the gall to make fun of me and say I'm defending white people... All the while you're the one who say we all are the same because we don't want a black QB. Blah, blah, blah.

Yes, and as usual I see you didn't check what I actually posted... it wasn't the Whitlock article, which also pointed out you were wrong (as usual) but the fact that Young IS hurt and had surgery earlier this week contrary to what you said, which was that he wasn't hurt. Wrong and wrong. Enjoy it.

Folks like nc biscuit always gotta make it a white people vs. Taharqa issue because they're not tough enough or courageous enough to speak their true views. Stop throwing white people under the bus. I call people out directly by name, and you dudes always need "group validation" to feel confident about yourselves. LOL.

Now you're spinning the broken record... neat trick... still wrong though.

No KT....people on this board talk about QB's all the time.

You are the only one who puts their race before the letters Q and B.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
