Staff Rebuilding Hypos [Warning: This thread contains a Cowher reference]

**NOTICE: THIS THREAD IS PURE AND UNADULTERATED WISHFUL NONSENSE**

Given the state of flux that the Carolina defensive coaching staff is in, if you were in charge would you:

A: Let Fox rebuild his defensive staff and keep trucking along.

B: Dump Fox, promote Davidson, and let him build a staff with the goal of creating a creative offensive minded team.

C: Dump Fox, and hire Cowher as HC (assuming he would, which doesn't seem likely this year), and let him rebuild the entire staff, and in the process switch the D to a *gasp* 3-4.

B

Davidson doesn't know defense. He will hire a coordinator, and let him run it the way he wants it. If that means Fox will stop butchering the offensive playcalling and tinkering with the defensive schemes, them I'm all for it. This is just wishful nonsense though.

I'd hate to become one of the fire-fox fine young males that stroll around here though...

Damn, so many edits. None of these options look too appealing.

B---cannot happen because the OWNER of the team wants to be just like the Steelers

A---will probably happen for the next 2 years until Fox's contract is up and he retires

C---Cowher went to one superbowl and 2 AFC championship games in his first 7 years as head coach, losing the superbowl, just like John Fox. The next two years, 8 and 9, for those of you who are mathematically challenged were bad years. It was not until he broke down and drafted a QB in rd1, that he was able to finally overcome 14 years of mediocrity and win a superbowl. Why exactly does everyone want Cowher?

I don't think that the answer lies within any of your solutions

If we want, and I mean really want, to be like the Steelers, as JR confesses, then we should follow their lead and hire the Vikings DC as our head coach. Leslie Frazier is the answer. The FO just doesn't have the guts to do it.

Because under Cowher the Steelers were consistantly in the hunt for their division title and the playoffs. Pittsburgh was feared as a place to play. I personally want the guy in here

    • Don’t recall seeing many of his interviews but what strikes me is that he engages and goes in depth. Even with the cliche answers as referenced by OP come across somewhat thoughtful.  Very likable personality despite being someone who can crush an average person like I can crush a paper cup. I knew Motons mother had a career at MSU but was looking on the google and found that Mushin Muhammad personally knew Motons grandfather.   His late grandfather was a professor at MSU.   Cool guy.  Interesting family and small world.
    • I think people aren’t patient enough with Young. It can take a few years for a QB to develop. Look at Darnold, Baker and most recently Daniel Jones.   he hasn’t been able to put up big passing numbers either cause of how much we run the ball. You can tell our coaching staff still hasn’t took the training wheels off Bryce and let him go all out. We’ve had some pretty bad receivers as well. We finally got a true number one last year and look how much Bryce improved. Still we didn’t really have any depth behind TMac. Coker was hurt for a lot of the year and XL was our #2. How many big plays or TDs has XL dropped? I think this year can be the year we see Bryce able to hit his stride. If not then we can start looking for another qb but I just ask people to be patient.
    • poo I doubt any Bucs fan would trade Baker for BY either lol.
