Carson Palmer is done

He's never had to worry about being benched or being scrutinized alot in the media. Ocho Cinco (and now TO) are there for that.

ok, first off, do you know anything about this year's Bengals? Palmer has gotten DESTROYED by the media, while Ocho Cinco and TO have both been praised for how well they are getting along and playing.

all of the above are things that should be happening based on how they've been playing, but my gosh are you way off base when you say that Palmer has it scott free. you look for ANYTHING to try and promote your racist agenda. just lay off man. everybody here can see the bull you are trying to pull

Palmer's never been benched no matter how sorry he's played. I just dont think a QB can thrive in an environment like that. Palmer was praised just this offseason for displaying "leadership" by calling out Ocho Cinco for not coming to OTA's. Palmer is very overpaid considering he's never had postseason success. There's never been a national story about benching Carson Palmer or examining his shortcoming as a QB. If Palmer had any kind of pressure to win or lose his job he would've had a better career and the Bengals might be a better football team. As is, they're 2-10 and on their way to the lottery. I think the Bengals should draft Cam Newton.

2-9 actually... And I think people are jmping on the Cam Newton bandwagon way to fast... he's only had one season and hasn't thrown many passes at all.. there are tons of QB's in college that have a huge season but it's doesn't correlate to their entire career in college.

I actually agree with most of the stuff you have said here. but here's the reason that the Bengals are sticking with him right now. His situation reminds me alot of Jake Delhomme. Both leadership guys who had control of the clubhouse and all the players respected but both had sharply declining skills. neither team wants to make a move because they don't want backlash from the players in the lockeroom. Now, should they bench Carson? absolutely. and could they draft Cam Newton? sure, because I think Cam Newton is going to be pretty good. But to say Palmer hasn't endured any criticism while TO and Chad have gotten it all this year is ridiculous

to be fair, what Carson Palmer has gotten this year is nothing compared to what TO especially has gotten his career (deservedly so or not). Seems people have cooled off on Chad a bit though he took a beating early in his career too.

that's true. but that's also because Carson Palmer doesn't keep on making controversial remarks to the media. I mean, look at last game. TO was telling the media that Revis was an average cornerback. of course he is going to get flak if he doesn't go out and have a great game against him.

    • Watched the recent Mic'd up which had the Bucs game. This angle makes that fumble look so much worse, pretty sure it was inbetween Bryce's hands.   bbb.mp4
    • Here is what you did not mention (and I have not read the thread--but will--it is a needed) and that is the MAFF.  He is in a contract year (2026-5th year) and we will not know (in all likelihood) how the knee is healing by the time we have to decide on a mega deal.   If you consider the time it takes to fully heal is 12 months if all goes well, the injury is known to shorten careers.  Of course, a man of 330 lbs who needs agility to perform at a high level makes the injury a bit more serious than it was for Jimmy Graham, for example, who recovered in a remarkable 9 months.  Having said all that, I think he should be moved inside to guard.   While many NFL linemen can return to play after patellar tendon surgery, studies show a significant failure rate and reduced performance, with return-to-play (RTP) rates often cited around 50-56%, meaning roughly 44-50% don't make it back, and even those who do often see reduced careers and statistics, highlighting it as a devastating injury for linemen." I think you have to go after an elite OT, and I think it should be a first rounder because you don't sign elite LTs in free agency.  Ickey is already going to get paid $18m or so in 2026.    However, the money you save by not locking him down long term could go to a free agent edge or ILB.  It is very complicated if you start factoring in contracts, risks, cap, and the odds of recovery.
    • Yes, we played the 2nd most cover 3 in the NFL behind the Raiders.   The flats and seams are the areas you want to attack it so its soft spots are areas qbs can hit quickly which can definitely hurt the pass rush.
