Clausen vs. Bradford

And you sir are blind to the facts. St Pierre threw a long touchdown to Gettis and while he threw some pick sixs, the game was already over. While it mattered he threw better and down the field.

While Moore's 10 Ints seemed bad at the time at least he moved the offense and had 5 TDs. Right now Jimmy has 1 TD and 5 Ints. Five starts and 1 TD. That is incredibly poor. St Pierre had the same number of TDs in 1 game.

So as incredibly bad as BSP was, Clausen is even worse. Not that is abysmal.

Your ignoring the facts, moron.

But, hey, at least you'll be able to pull for Matt in San Fran next year!!

Okay. So let me get this straight. The game wasn't over when he threw a touchdown (score was 20 to 6), but it was when the score was 23 to 13? o.o The pick 6s sealed the deal. They were as deflating as it gets and the first one IS what sealed the game!

If BSP threw down the field so much, why was his average LESS than Clausen's yesterday? He had one decent completion. Clausen didn't have many either, but to say he played better than Clausen because of that single completion is inaccurate. He also threw two pick sixes back to back, the first of which DID put the game out of reach.

Oh, gee, this thread again..

Anyways.

Bradford looks like an NFL QB.

Clausen looks like a rookie NFL QB. <thanks Coach Rip!!>

Will he mature? Hope so. He's shown the ability to make plays, and he could develop into a very good NFL QB.

Wish people would just sit, wait, and watch and stop letting their ego's get in the way.

Hey, somebody had to do it. :P And anyways, I was really just having some fun with panther4life. I actually like Clausen and hope he gets better, so we can either trade him for some value or have him be our starter for the next 10 years. I say the real problem is Fox and Davidson not trusting him, but as long as Clausen show improvement each start I will be happy, as I'm sure most will be. And I do think he has shown improvement.

By what metric was he worse this Sunday than his previous start?

1) He showed resilience coming back from an INT to lead the team down to what should have been a game winning FG

2) He moved the offense better - MUCH better - look at his 3rd down completion %age, who the hell cares if they were finding an open back.

3) He actually was visibly reading defenses on many plays, and he stood in the pocket slightly more.

4) HE DIDNT HAVE A BATTED BALL! WOOO!

How was BSP better?? is your only metric "threw for a long touchdown"? Because if so, darn, you got me! Because that is all BSP was able to do, really.

Take away the pic six Captain scored and the 3 points given to us on the Beason interception and exactly how many points did we score? Yeah that would be 13. And how many did Clausen figure predominantly in, yeah that would be one field goal. Clausen threw for less than 200 yards, didn't threw a TD, didn't even march us down to the redzone all day. And his passer rating was 75 against Tampa, 63 against Cleveland. And the pick in the last 5 minutes doomed us. He wasn't better by any stretch of the imagination. He showed no pocket awareness, couldn't even throw the ball away without an intentional grounding call and didn't attempt one ball downfield. At least again Tampa he threw it downfield to Smitty and attempted to move the ball.

In case none of you have been watching, the only person doing anything productive on offense is Mike Goodson, a slightly better version of DeShaun Foster...

They can say "nobody on this team is going to give up on Fox" all they want, but that has happened, and it happened a long time ago on the offensive side of the ball...

I saw Kalil standing around doing nothing on one run play, after he realized he had nobody to block... I've seen Gross have mental lapses all season... Those guys are supposed to be the leaders on our OL... The running lanes have been freak accidents, and our passing tree has less branches than g5jamz's family tree does... Peyton Manning couldn't play with what we're out there giving our QBs... How many times has Clausen been banged up now? Moore is out for the year... St. Pierre even took some tough hits...

Actually the score was 20-13 after the touchdown throw with less than 9 minutes left. At that point we were still in the game. But the defense let us down and when the Ravens scored a fieldgoal to go up by 10 with less than 5 minutes to go the game was effectively over. It was a 2 score game at that point and not enough time to come back. The Pic sixes just made the score look worse than it was.

You must not watch football enough if you don't think 10 points versus 7 and 9 minutes versus less than 5 being left in a game are huge differences.

Funny that this is even a discussion. Our prize supposed first round rookie looks worse than a guy who threw 5 completions in the NFL and was babysitting three weeks ago at home and hasn't touched a ball in a year. Clausen is so bad he can't beat a guy off the couch!! LOL

blah wasn't yesterday's version enough?

Clausen had a nice reception to Smith and took a roughing the passer penalty on the first drive. 30 yards is a pretty decent contribution, even if he did fug up with the intentional grounding. You can say he wasn't better, but I think he did improve in some areas (batted balls). He didn't take shots because he was being hurried FAR more by the Browns than he was Tampa Bay (evidenced by the increase in sacks on him). I think he improved, you don't; either way, he was superior to BSP.

Part of the improvement I think was that after the pick he actually came back in and showed resilience in putting us in position to win. While his pick could have been damning, he didn't let that mistake unravel him. While you can say the Goodson throw was ALL on Goodson, the Lafell pass was pretty well placed into double coverage on a receiver near the sideline.

By no means do I think this is enough not to draft Luck etc but I think he has shown some improvement over the last couple weeks and is the best we have. I want him to continue improving, and I'm one of the first to say that he isn't having great games, so don't take it that way. If Moore was available, I'd want him to start but he isn't, so...

What facts are those Einstein? It is plain to all but Clausen homers like you that he sucks and isn't improving. He is not going to get better this year. He would have to actually try and do something different instead of the same crap over and over with the dumpoffs.

Or maybe you think the facts like Quarterback rating of 55 and a TD to INT ration of a .20 is good. Maybe a completion percentage of 50% or a YPA of 5.3 are good.

Check the rating Sherlock. They are all good for last in the league. Yeah!!

I guess it takes a moron to see the obvious facts.

Obviously this is why BSP was benched for Clausen.

If you're going to insult me and claim I didn't watch the game, at least make sure you have your times right. The fact you think a 10 point game with 5:55 left is over tells me you've never played football... especially after a huge play that ignited the offense like that. Gee, we can score a TD in 30 seconds, but I'll be damned if we have any shot at 10 points in 6 minutes!

You know it is bad when you have to talk about one or two specific plays in order to be able to say anything nice about your quarterback. Truth is the only thing Clausen did worth a damn all day was one long pass to LeFell with 12 seconds left. Still doesn't make up for the interception when we had time on the clock and 3 timeouts.

Truth is if we don't get two picks by Delhomme the game isn't even close. Clausen did very little to make a difference and showed no improvement. He seemd more lost out there than usual and failed to get the ball down the field or in the redzone.
