McNabb was a bridge/mentor for Luck or Cam in 2011

How would you guys react to that? McNabb would be the franchise's 1st NFL caliber QB since Jake in 2008 and he could be a good mentor to a young guy. it'd be all worthless if the WR corps aren't upgraded to NFL standards but I think it would be a start for Carolina.

I think it would be a good move. If the Panthers do draft another QB, they definitely need a good veteran to act as a mentor. I think this was a big problem with Clausen, who appears to be afraid and have little confidence to me.

Depending on what McNabb costs, I'm not sure if they would get him though because if they pay the money it takes to get a top 10 pick at QB, I don't know how long they would wait before throwing him to the wolves.

Well if there is a lockout I think Luck would do just fine with a couple years' practice. If not, bringing in a mentor would be in the best interest for Luck but I still think luck should start if he takes really well and it would be still nice to have someone on the sidelines helping him out.

Hello, Im a redskins fan(hurts to say it right now) but i have a few questions

say you guys get the number 1 pick would you guys take the deal of

Our First (potential top 6 pick) Mcnabb, Haynseworth, 2012 3rd, 2012 4th

that way you guys get a QB for now.. AND Cam Newton who most believe can be as good as McNabb... AND you get Haynseworth which i know people are iffy on getting him but if he plays in the 4-3 hes ok and quiet and will be a FORCE to open up holes for your LBs...

then you add a 3rd and a 4th in a potentially DEEP class next year with players being scared of the lockout therefor they will return to school...

Also what chances do you guys think you have of re-signing Kalil?

mcnabb signed an extension w the redskins already, right?

He did, but the contract had a "loophole" they can cut him with no owed money. So If Shanahan makes it and cuts McNabb, I really believe he becomes a Panther and will be able to mentor Clausen, Luck, Newton...whoever our QB is next year. And the "Carolina is a racist org. at QB" can stop. I mean it's a win win win all over spectrum.

    • I am not sure it should be a ‘sell out to go to the SB’ season. And hope they don’t.  At the same time I was thinking you absolutely must find out if you want to pay for Bryce or not. That means putting it on him. No protecting and trying to hide weaknesses with the run game and a super conservative calls.  So I wish they would do it and find out, win or lose, 2026. No more developing. Time to do it. Let’s see once and for all.
    • My biggest fear with Bryce Young is that he will always do just enough to stick around. He shows flashes and then drops a turd so the hopium is always there. Like his career highlight reel if you cut it up to some hype music and did a YouTube video would actually be quite good. His great plays really, really look good. But after that video you look at his yearly averages for completion percentage, yardage, touchdowns, and virtually every other metric and it is meh as fug. Like you know Bryce is gonna be 13/23 for 157 yards a touchdown and probably a pick.  I will 100% give him his flowers for his athleticism and ability to scramble outside the pocket. I haven’t seen the mythical “super processing ability” he was touted for per se, but he has shown flashes of absolutely elite awareness when it comes to scrambling. The little basketball move he does to shake defensive linemen has almost become a signature move. It’s hard to explain but you know it when you see it he stops on a dime and pivots like he is gonna hit a step back jumper and it has gotten him out of a lot of trouble.  I sincerely, truly, as a vocal Bryce HATER, hope that since we are obviously running with him next year the coaching staff actually tailors plays around his strengths. He needs to be in a pure spread IMO. His size is much less of a hindrance when he can play QB in open space. I feel like most of his highlight reel is from scrambles and play action/bootlegs.
