Dan Patrick Interview with LUCK (Really trying to force him into the draft)

If Luck stays in school there are other guys that will be successful. Newton will be a huge force once he learns the pro game. Look at The Golden Calf of Bristol, he played pretty well yesterday with virtually no experience. I would like to see Luck come out but honestly he isn't the only good quarterback out there. Mallett and Locker are both good players that you could build a team around. Locker didn't get worse from last year.

Based on his comments...it pretty much seems like he was telling the host to eat poo.

This might be a shock to some folks...but maybe, just maybe..the guy does not give a rats ass about how much money he would make coming out this year rather than next year taking the chance of a rookie salary cap. Yeah, to us layman folks who wouldn't make in a lifetime what he could make in 6 months, him not coming out now while he is the hot ticket seems absurd and could not possibly happen...but you know..the kid may actually (dare I say it) love playing the game more than he is looking toward millions in the future.

Maybe he doesn't enter because the kid is still barely legal drinking age (in NC) maybe he has taken the advice of so many other former NFL players that he should take care and secure an education first..money second. Maybe he has a hot piece of ass he is addicted to out in Cali that he doesn't want to leave, maybe he doesn't want to get bitched at by S. Smith (who has turned into a real princess this season) Just because the kid plays football well and at a top notch level doesn't mean he is like so many others who have no choice but to ride football train or otherwise be cooking your hamburgers Fat Daddy's.

^^THIS^^

There is a good chance that he just enjoys college.

I really wouldn't be suprised to see him stay in college. Not because he doesn't want to come to Carolina but because he enjoys college.

Its a fun time in his life and he is the king of that campus.

I hope that he does come out, because even if the FO is sold on Clausen (which I don't see why they would be) then that first pick is worth a ton with Luck on the board. Without Luck on the board, then not so much. Nobody is really going to be willing to give up a ton for Fairley, Marcellus, Newton, or Green.

I can think of several million reasons Luck will leave, as many of you list reasons he could stay. Consider this:

1. Waiting until after the bowl to announce respects his school, team, and coach.

2. If he was staying, why wouldn't he announce it now?

3. Waiting as long as possible helps recruiting at Stanford.

4. Waiting allows him more time to see what his coach is going to do.

5. He (supposedly) has not met with draft projectors, agents, etc. Once he does, the "real world" will set in. He will be advised to leave Stanford while his stock is soaring.

6. Jake Locker--a QB he knows and plays against--saw his stock nosedive this year. He knows that several of his teammates are graduating and many are NFL-caliber players. Harbaugh is looking (has not signed contract)-the party is over at Stanford.

7. There is no reason to suggest that he will ever do better than #1 overall pick, that Stanford will ever win more than 11 games, or that he will make more money by staying in school and waiting the CBA out.

8. Many early projections, when he was being interviewed as the #1 pick, had Buffalo drafting him. Maybe you stay in if Buffalo is on the clock, but not Carolina.

9. Harbaugh will tell Luck about the family atmosphere and solid owner in Carolina. It will influence his decision. Luck will have to go to a place that has never had a top-tier QB. He has to be excited about the idea of becoming the face of a franchise.

10. Luck is originally from Texas but his family now lives in West Virginia. Maybe he wants to be closer to them.

11. I had a good friend who I played with in college who went on the play for the Indianapolis Colts. He returned every spring to finish school. We graduated together. Luck is not giving away his opportunity to graduate from Stanford. He is simlply becoming a part time student. The college lifestyle? He doesn't know what that is. He is a celebrity-a star. College is not changing that very much. He will be that wherever he is.
