stop being a debbie downer squirrel.

Not being a debbie downer but people need to realize Luck might not come out and they need to be ready for that. I still think if he does we will trade down. So its to me all it means is we get less value for the draft pick.

All these people clamoring for Luck will be the first ones to throw him under the bus. If he doesnt perform up to their expectations.

Just because he likes the challenge of competing agianst the best doesnt mean he will leave early. Look at it this way. Luck comes out and then there is a work stoppage. He doesnt play football for the whole year and doesnt get paid. Would you A) Take the safe route and play another year and get one more closer to a degree or B) come out and have the chance of not playing for a year.

The NFL needs to get the CBA done before kids declare for the draft. Which wont happen.

You're right. He can only improve his stock by returning to school. With the majority of his OLine leaving and a very good chance of a new HC and coordinators next season, I'm sure the chances of him slipping from the #1 pick are very small.

Plus with as poor as his family is, he probably wouldn't be able to finish his degree in case of a work stoppage.

true and they should realize he will not be the next Peyton Manning if we sit back and do what we did last year in free agency. Lets hope everyone here is right and he is the second coming of Jesus!!

That brings up another point. The kid doesnt need money, maybe he likes college and wants to experience the full 4 years of it.

It's a fair point until you start looking at the scope of money you're dealing with. He wouldn't be turning down a 30 cent raise, he'd be gambling with tens of millions of dollars. He has absolutely no where to go but down by returning to Stanford. Also, despite all the uproar over him being non-committal about declaring.. why hasn't he put everything to bed already by committing to Stanford for next season?

He may not declare, but I think it's a small chance.

Rookie salary cap. He wont be getting a huge contract. He might get a $5 million signing bonus and 2 -3 a year.

Nice find. Half the people on this board wont read it though. Gives a good insight into the kids state of mind and what he values.

Maybe this is my inexperience in this area showing, but do sophmores usually talk about NFL aspirations before the season is going in full force? Don't most of them say how much they'd love to win two championships or whatever?

I dunno. I have no doubt this is not an easy decision for him to make, but I think too much is being made of how he loves college. If he loves football as much as people say, and if he's as competitive as his father seems to think, I don't see why he doesn't go to the NFL when he can. Injury can keep him from the NFL, but very little can ultimately prevent him from finishing his degree.
