The 4 Truths

1. JR has NEVER been cheap. NEVER until this season. He is a highly respect owner among his peers, and he was setting an example this season for the new CBA. JR offered to make Julius Peppers the highest paid defensive player in the league ater a 2.5 sack season, remember? JR wants to win as much as we do. He knows what it takes to win, and if Luck comes out, I'm pretty sure we take him.

2. New coach + #1 pick, often means a new QB. The coach will want his own guy under center learning his own system. If Luck is there, he will take him.

3. Marty Hurney scares me to death, but I'm sure he knows how to secure his job. Drafting Luck. If he grabs the best QB prospect of the decade, he can almost guarantee himself to keep his job. For him to pass on a franchise QB would make his time here very short lived. I know it, you know it, and I'm pretty sure he knows it.

4. The only thing that now stands in our way is this: Does Luck declare? I think he will. Not because I'm ignorant to the bias interviews of the Stanford coaching staff (hoping he stays). But because Luck knows his draft stock will NEVER get higher than it is now. And if a Rookie Salary cap comes into place anytime soon, he will need to get out ASAP. I understand he looks up to coach Harbaugh. In all honesty I think Harbaugh will come out and coach, but is making contract moves around Stanford to better position himself for a nice pay on whatever NFL team he joins. Harbaugh won't pass on the chance to enter the NFL and draft his own QB at #1. That scenario happens once a century: To be able to coach an NFL team with the #1 pick, in which you grab your own QB.

Panthers fans, be a little more optimistic, there are stupid people out there, but they aren't that stupid.

Lol. Fixed.

Don't humor them. They act as if they are worthy of editing. I hope they have the ability to figure it out. If not, include pictures next time. I see your points and the purpose. I don't know why being a dick interests some people, but some are very good at it. If they aren't signing your checks or grading your papers, then don't apologize.

Not always true.... This usually comes down to the owner and not the coach. If the owner believes in the QB he will hire a coach who believes in that QB....

If the Owner could care less about the coach then He'll allow the new coach to go out and get his guy.

So I think it depends on JR's view of the quarterbacks we have.. not necessarily the new coach.

    • I just dont get the worry over losing a practice squad player that just went undrafted. Everyone just made their selections. The chances of a team wanting to sign him to an active roster after not selecting him is very low.  If that interested they would have taken him late to evaluate in person. As far as I can tell two qbs were signed off another teams practice squad last season and they were both going in to their 5th season.
    • I enjoyed reading this thread and the usual banter that follows. The only silver lining I can identify right now is we do actually have a couple of young QB's behind him and we do have a nice roster on both sides of the ball built around the most important position. So if the team overall shows some promise but we still falter largely due to a lack of consistent passing output (again) hopefully the decision makers can be free to make the best decision for the team going forward after the conclusion of this upcoming season.
    • I don't really follow the team anymore due to a variety of reasons and consequently have largely stopped posting but I agree that this is a lovely website and community. This forum probably kept me around for years longer than I would've stuck otherwise because of how difficult it was to stop checking multiple times a day. Especially appreciate how lax the moderation tends to be compared to a lot of places, the crew here does a great job. Out of curiousity I decided to try making a new account (solely for testing purposes) to see what exactly is wrong with the sign up process. The issue seems to be that it never sends you an account verification email, thus making it impossible to complete registration. This is likely something to do with the email server upstream, hope it gets fixed. Also, lol
