On their boards they seem to think Richardson is going to draft defense with the #1 overall pick or he would be willing to trade it to Buffalo for the #3 and other picks so they can get Luck.

I have said for years, they really need more to do up there than shovel snow.

NO WAY. They need to start looking at CAM or Ryan. I see why they think that.

When we cleaned house last year, did you notice how many defensive players we released/let go (Harris, Peppers, Diggs, Kemo, Lewis)? We let Lewis and Kemo go, then got Tank Tyler and Leonard at the flea market. Still needing DTs and a SLB, we moved Anderson there and went with Landri, Johnson, Hayden, this year? This is what pissed Fox off so much. No DTs in a 4-3? I think JR plans to switch to the 3-4, which is why Fox knew he was out the door a year ago.

Look at the draft last year. With all the holes left on defense, we draft offense until the 4th round. Then who do we draft? Norwood, a player projected to be an OLB in the 3-4. No fifth rounder, but in the sixth we have 3 picks, and 2 were offensive players. The defensive player was Hardy, who is athletic enough to play OLB in the 3-4, nearly big enough to play DE.

We will re-sign our offensive UFAs like Kalil, but we may not re-sign players like Anderson. Who knows.

Now we bring in Rivera. That screams 3-4. It will take personnel. We have cap room and our offense is just about in tact when we get a QB and healthy. We shall see.

New policy of banning f**knuts who think Richardson of all people is setting up the defense to a 3-4 is this {...} close to being started.

Ban them for thinking Richardson is going to do anything other than hire the new coach.

    • Why would we not be contenders? As long as Bryce plays like he did when he came back, we absolutely can be contenders...that is...   if the defense plays better... which is why adding someone like Ramsey when we have a QB on a rookie deal and can afford it makes sense IMO. No one thought of the Commanders being contenders last year or the Texans the year before and so on and so forth. Top-end QB play, especially for a guy on a rookie deal, changes everything in terms of timelines. Regardless of what this board thinks, I hope the front office is willing to he aggressive in thks window we currently have with a rookie QB deal
    • Would absolutely love to have him. I dont think he would require more than a 5th rounder. The biggest thing with his contract is the amount of guaranteed money. As long as they can work out and scenario where the Panthers aren't on the hook for a lot of that, I think it's a no-brainer. The Panthers can come up with $20M at the drop of a hat with restructuring Moton's contract, so there definitely isn't an issue from a money perspective. Jaycee paired with Ramsey along with Mike Jack would give us one of the best CB groups in the league. The one caveat I see is that safety still remains our biggest current weakness. We need a starting caliber S more than CB, simply put. But adding someone like Ramsey would be amazing as long as the compensation made sense. Ramsey could also play for FS snaps also. I also dont understand this nonsense about being seasons away. We have a QB on a rookie deal who was playing at an elite level to end last season. Within reason, now is absolutely the time to make moves like trading for Ramsey.
    • He'd be a huge upgrade for this year, but we're still not going to be contenders with him and I'd rather keep the cap space to roll into next season to spend on a younger player who can be an impact starter for us for the next 3-5 years while we're hoping to contend.
