Oliver Luck: Panthers/CBA had nothing to do with Andrew's decision

Yeah right

If school is so important, heck Jimmy Claussen is enrolled in school this semester at Notre Dame. He could get his degree and be this years #1 pick. He wouldn't need to worry about being an Architect anyway until he retires from NFL.

Oliver Luck says the prospect of being drafted by the Panthers and the CBA had nothing to do with his son's decision to go back to Stanford.

I have no trouble believing that.

Look, all of us are all wrapped up in the Panthers. Luck isn't. He has no reason to be. For all we know, he may not know the first thing about the team, its owner or anything else.

It's not so hard to think he made this decision completely independent of anything having to do with this team.

I know there's an element of the fanbase that'll never believe that, but it's likely the truth.

Fug, it sucks for us but I respect a kid who values his education over an instant payday. Luck is a special breed, I only hope that we can have a chance at him next year because he really is a franchise QB....

Luck is a damn fool, Architects do not make much money, or get the respect everyone thinks. Even if he was to come out with his degree and be able to somehow find a job right now (architecture is currently post about a 50%+ unemployment rate in the charlotte area), he wouldnt make crap for the first 10 years. then he would have operate his own company to make any decent money.

he could sign that rookie contract an be set for life. he isnt going to practice architecture until he retires anyway. what a moron.

this coming from a fellow architect. I would send him my arch degree and seal for $50 mil.

The Luck family isn't exactly poor.

I think it's a bit presumptive to assume their thought processes are automatically the same as ours.

Other guys have made the same decision in the past. It's not that shocking. We're just heavily hit by it because we really wanted him to play here.

Would anyone expect him to come out and say, "hell no he didn't want to go to the panthers". Remember when Eli was booed at the draft for throwing a tantrum over getting drafted by the Chargers. You think Andrew's dad would hold him up for to be a target also. What else do you honestly expect him to say??

    • I think the Bevell hire has more to do with adding actual veteran head coaching experience to the staff than anything else. But I do wholeheartedly agree that the obsession in general with Seattle needs to come to an end. I mean we plucked the one guy there to be our GM who turned out to be our worst GM in franchise history in just a few short years and that's really saying something given our history there. Clearly trying to mimick Seattle in any way has not been productive. As far as Idzik many of us have asked the same question but at this point in time it doesn't really matter anymore because Canales is either going to lead this franchise to a winning record or he will be shown the door.
    • Why wasn't here even considered? Better record and save % than any of t he 3 goalies on the US squad.
    • That’s why Bevell is a good move. Idzik might not be chopped liver, he is just inexperienced and even less ready to be the play caller than Canales. I still say the playbook is limited which is a hinderance to calling plays, I would imagine.    Anyway Beavis lol… no Bevell, got to consecutive SBs as an OC and won one with 48 points or something. Should have won the second one. And had several more good years there.    They were the team we had to learn how to beat it took us til the third year I think before we could go into Seattle and successfully compete.   That is glass half full thinking, yep, but that is head and shoulders over what we have had here for a while. Certainly now.     In addition.. It was Canales’ boss. He knew more then , I would bet he knows more now. I can’t look at this as anything but a potential positive thing.  Hell he might be the guy that can look at Dave and say what the fug are you doing? And Dave will listen. I think I can hope for that.  Maybe not.
