Cutler getting ripped apart by NFL players

As a TEAM player, he should have at least been engaged in helping his backups on the sideline. That's my only beef about what happened.

Jay just doesn't seem to get that quarterback is about more than passing and handing off. It's about leadership. When the team sees you over there on the bench all wrapped up in five layers while they're still fighting to get to the Super Bowl, you look like a prima donna.

I remember when Jake got benched, finally, by Fox. Did he sit over there and sulk, ala Weinke? No, he was the first guy talking to Moore when Moore came to the sideline. What are you seeing out there? What did we go over in practice?

In-game feeds and those that were there know he did exactly that.

Hanie said as much post game too....but people report only what they see in 2 second flashes by the network.

And report only what supports their thesis.

Poor way of doing business.

and il bet mjd would run threw every single last one of them.and trd why cant players talk thats the second thread you have said that in?they are humans not robots.

Have you ever heard players say anything intelligent or positive that wasn't related to their own game/performance?

They get paid to play. They don't get paid to think and make moves for the front office and they don't get paid to diagnose injuries. Whenever they talk about stuff they just come off as dumb and it looks bad for the game.

There was honestly no reason for MJD to come out and question Cutler, none at all. It has no impact on his life whatsoever and should stay out of it.

It just really bothers me when players do this because it's not their place. Let them comment on the President, Jersey Shore, taxes all they want. They shouldn't be talking about personnel decisions or other players.

.....

His teammates seem to be calling into radio stations and going the extra mile to defend him. It's not even just generic support the QB talk... they are very passionate in their defens eof him.

So saying how the team views him you are making assumptions on something you do not know. Besides what limited amount we see on tv on game days these guys have a lot of interactions with each other. It seems to me as his teammates does respect him. You and others not with chicago may see his as a orima donna, but don't put that assuption on his current teammate.

Was he expecting to be celebrated for talking poo about a colleague?

Players need to be players and stop talking all the damn time.

He doesn't have to be celebrated, but death threats? Come on :nonod:

That says more about the idiots sending them than it does about him.

In fairness, if he were traded tomorrow, you'd likely see some of those opinions flip faster than an olympic gymnast.

I'm not in the camp that believes his injury was fake or anything of the sort, but it's pretty clear Cutler has a Ricky Williams/Julius Peppers type of personality.

Does that make him a bad person? No, but a runningback or a defensive end can get away with being a social misfit. It's not so easy for a quarterback.

When you publicly insult the QB for one of the most storied franchises in the sport without being provoked, the fans of that team aren't going to take it well.

Not saying it's right, but what did he expect?

Now he basically had micro-fracture surgery to fix a knee he'd been a tough guy and played on and probably won't ever be the same.

Talking does no good for these people. When will they get it?
