Would you take Josh Freeman #1 overall?

Not much. Vince Young still went top 5 after scoring a -13 on his wonderlic test.

Actually, alot. Some teams don't want a moron, so they lower guys who can barely read on a 4th grade level and still don't understand fractions like Vince Young. Now, teams used to losing will often ignore these warning signs and draft the guy high anyway, and continue losing.

that's because you've already made up your mind, dude. you've made it clear what you think of the QBs in this draft and you're just going to use what you like in the combine, and ignore the rest.

 you haven't been paying attention, then. the major reason i don't like him (other than him being at best an average QB) is because of what he does under pressure in game situations. you can't duplicate that in the combine. he's only going to be getting more pressure in the pros and he'll be just as able to handle it as clausen did this year, if that well.

excuse me for not being a sheep and having my own opinion about this guy or this class of QBs. i'm also far from being alone in my not understanding the hype for this guy. you look around and you're going to find lots of people who can't figure out why this guy is so hyped.

also, do you seriously believe gabbert would be able to step in and start from day 1 on any team? if so, what in the world have you been smoking? there's no way that could happen and end well. he's nowhere near ready to play in the pros.

some of you have a love affair with Mayock, so check it out :)

as a note, what he said at the end is, I think, what a lot of this will come down to... figuring out the intangibles and the football IQ of all these prospects can be the toughest part.

saw it and to his credit he said he'd still have to watch some more tape, but my opinion of him has dropped some because of this. everyone makes mistakes, though. it's about time mayock had a totally blown projection.

I wouldn't. Freeman finished his rookie season with a 59.8 QB rating. Clausen's finished this season with a 58.4. Not saying he didn't improve immensely this season, because he did, but I would still rather have Brees or Ryan over Freeman, and thats just from choosing in the NFC South.

way over your head buddy.

Your opinion has dropped because of what? His comments on Gabbert? He only said that he can make all the throws, but has no footwork, which is what most have picked up on. I don't understand how you can disagree with that, unless I am missing something...?

i'm pretty sure i've seen somewhere else that he said some more favorable things about him and that he felt good about him. not crazy about him being ranked ahead of everyone else in this draft either, but i don't know who i would put ahead of him.

You can have whatever opinion you want dude, my issue is that you seem incredibly focused on how he handles pressure when it's really NOT that unusual for a college qb to have issues with feeling pressure. You also make it seem like when he gets pressure he falls to the ground and rolls around. The problem is, when pressure comes from the edges he often rolls out of the pocket instead of stepping up into it. Sometimes he makes tremendous plays doing this... other times not so much. This is typical of young QBs, especially athletic ones.

The combine should give us a better idea of just how strong Gabbert's measurables are. They can also show footwork and technique, though obviously not under pressure. Finally, interviews will give some hint if the talk out of Missouri about how *good* his intangibles are is true. I think this is literally the least recognized part of Gabbert's package because so few people have any exposure to that program. Everything coming out of there about him has been VERY good relating to his leadership abilities, his work ethic, etc. Not even a whisper of any character concerns of any kind. (Not saying all QB prospects have them btw or what :P)

I have no doubt Gabbert could start. Could he play well? It would entirely depend on the team that took him. I think the quarterback that has the best chance to come in and do well is Locker, because I think he has a chance of falling into someones hands who has a decent team and is willing to pick up a QB since they need someone in the short or long term.

I think Gabbert and Locker are the best prospects in this draft class when you consider all the factors. Ultimately, do I see Gabbert as a Panther? Very very unlikely, but I still think he is, right now anyway, the top QB... but I think that could change based on senior bowl and combine stuff.

I seem to recall him saying he liked Gabbert a lot but still thought Locker was the #1 QB and he should be in as much of the discussion as he was last year.

I can't really argue with that too much; Locker to me is the player with the most to gain in the Senior Bowl and Combine. I believe he can easily pass all the others with strong showings in both and maybe even enter into the #1 pick discussion. His team was so... I mean, you don't even want to use that argument, but really, he got less than no help. He physically willed his team to wins numerous times. Gabbert had little help in the passing game too but... he played in a much more friendly system to QBs.

What I find so strange about Locker is that his *throws* seem more accurate when he's out of the pocket and a scramble drill is going on. It makes me wonder what was going on with the route running or if he's just so rattled from the pressure.
