Superman is a Brit!

So they're doing a reboot of the Superman Franchise (who isn't getting a reboot now a days?) directed by Zak Snyder. It's staring Henry Cavill who was in the Tudors on Showtime and is from Britain. Superman is supposed to represent truth justice and the American way! So with the casting of Superman the top three American Superheros(Wolverine doesn't count because he's Canadian...but he's played by Australian) are played by foreigners. This leads me to believe that American Actors must suck...

Superman- Henry Cavill-British

Batman- Christian Bale-British

Spiderman- Andrew Garfield-British

I do have faith in the movie because it's being written by the Nolans and Zack Synder is a pretty good director.

I thought the dude in Superman Returns did a good job, why didn't they cast him?

Watch Christopher Reeve play the role. Then watch that guy. He's a joke. Then again, when you're being compared to Christopher Reeve, you're most likely going to lose.

Everybody's got an opinion... I thought he did an ok job... Welling would do OK as well I think... I don't know this british dude at all.

Smallville's still on? Man, that show wore out its welcome way back when they forgot Clark was in college.

Yeah, this is the last season. He might as well be Superman now, the only thing he can't do is fly. Has his costume already. Plus he has bulked up and looks the part. There are enough watchers of the show that any other actor won't be accepted in the role no matter how good the movie is. So this movie is already a fail IMO.

I haven't seen this new guy in anything to be honest. He almost was the new James Bond but they said he was too young, then he auditioned for Batman in Batman begins so obviously he(or his agent) have been trying to get him to be big time for quiet some time now. I like Synder as a director and Nolan as a producer and hope they don't fly off the deep end with this. You can't really do Superman as a gritty character IMO he doesn't have the grizzly history that other characters have.

He didn't look like Superman. He looked like a male model in a Superman suit.

(plus the script sucked eggs)

I agree they should have waited for Welling.

Yes, the script was horrible. I can't believe DC allowed Superman's christ-like character to be tainted with an illegitimate son that he lets another man raise as his own. WTF?

The only time Brandon Routh was believable as Superman was at the end when he was on the kryptonite island, getting beat up. For the rest of the movie, you're right... he was a male model in a Superman suit. And wtf was up with that stupid suit?

I'm afraid Tom Welling may be the same. I watched Smallville for the first 5 or 6 seasons. His range is pretty limited.... serious, serious, serious, goofy smile, serious, "I WON'T LET YOU...." Then again, that could be due to the poor writing and crappy plotlines.

The first 5 years of Smallville was too slow and I did stop watching for a couple of the seasons. It was boring. But once the writers got into transforming Clark into Superman the show picked up. I haven't missed a show for the last 4 years. Even with Lex dying...
