CBA Talks

Also dont expect the I dont expect the salary cap to go up if anything it should go down. When the owners opted out in 2008 it increased the salary cap alot. The owners will want some of that back.

I think the % of the pie drops. However, based on the new TV contracts, etc. I would expect the cap in $ to actually rise.

Couple of other tidbits to keep in mind as people start taking sides on the issues:

1. While the owners opted out of the CBA and made that announcement in 2008, what is not widely known is the players had the same clause to opt out if they felt they weren't getting a fair deal. Obviously, with nearly 60% of the revenues going to the players, they certainly weren't going to be the ones opting out anytime soon.

2. DeMaurice Smith and the NFLPA are in a no-win situation. The NFLPA and Smith know they are not going to get a deal like the last one, therefore the best they can hope for is something close, which is why Smith is putting on such a show. It's like being the defense attorney for someone who got caught red-handed- you know he's not getting away with it, so you may as well pull out all the stops and try anything to at least make a name for yourself even if you will lose the case.

this is the reason why you dont hire a lawyer to represent you....he is not even trying to get a deal done he is putting on a horse and pony show....and for that we thank you...

TSutt22: "Think about this. "we" get paid x millions of dollars but think about xx milions of dollars the guy is makin to pay x million of dollars"

sounds like he wants to get paid more than his boss...

...oh and he is talking abut a dispute between millionares...

    • Ravens mixing it up with a random Mark Andrew tush push last year isn't a similar situation.  Lamar has run QB sneaks his entire career.  And often instead of a traditional sneak will even employ a 4th and 1 direct snap to Lamar simply because of how athletic he is (which even Cam did a lot of) and let him pick his own holes.
    • height being an issue doesn't just mean batted balls.  You could argue Bryce minimizes batted balls by adopting other poor habits such as his jump passing and leaving the pocket.   As I said, there are plays you can point to where he clearly was blind to parts of the field/players....which kills plays and opportunity. Which actually means some of the shorter/hot throws when things break down are where his vision gets blocked (and he had below average production all around the line of scrimmage).   has he figured it out? I mean, he improved off a trainwreck start.  But Bryce Young since arriving in the league (even while figuring it out)......doesn't generate much offensive production vs his peers.  I just think his ceiling is low.   And that's not in the grand scheme what you want in the NFL.  I think he can develop into a serviceable QB, that will largely always been a middle of the pack or low end starter.
    • People make a lot of noise about his footwork and I think it is overblown. Whether he takes 3 steps backwards or 5 small steps doesn't matter as long as he ends up at the right depth and is in sync with  the receiver regarding timing. If he does that consistently who cares as long as he has a firm stable base as he delivers the ball. Which he does need to work on. However even that is somewhat overblown given that often QBs have to throw off balance or from different arm angles to fit the ball around defenders. He is considered very accurate so apparently it isn't hurting him that much.
