Big change in Madden 2010

Well, Madden is usually pretty awful with skill sliders and such. So probably now, those guys won't be able to catch the ball at all. Hell, I still get tons of drops from Smitty and Moose way too frequently. Also, the running game is simply terrible, I don't know how they haven't fixed this over the years. As well as the AI can be just plain stupid most of the time, and people online now how to exploit this kind of stuff.

It's just frustrating because this game should be great but with no competition there is no real point of reinventing the game. So, year after year you see minor improvements but it's never enough for me to be truly satisfied with the game. I always find major flaws that just turn me off from continuously playing it.

Terrible how? Too easy? Too hard? I've found that I get a pretty realistic running game via DeAngelo and Jonathan Stewart on the All-Madden settings (although I run franchise and now Stewart is a way better runner than DeAngelo). I actually loved 09 and the run game. I have found though, that I can stop ANY run game, basically. My D-line and LB's are pretty highly rated, but sheesh... I can't even remember the last time someone ran for 100 yards against me (even on All-Madden settings).

I do agree that the AI can be completely clueless sometimes. I've throw balls PERFECTLY to Smitty and he drops them like real-life T.O.!! No way in hell. I don't mind an occasional dropped ball. It happens. But when Smitty is dropping 5-6 per game? No way, sir.

And yes, the people online are idiots. I rarely play online anymore due to the dumbassery/disconnections/quitters/exploits/etc.

Once I get my Xbox fixed (effin laser died), if anyone here wants to play a realistic game online, I'm game.

if ur not one of the idiots that go for it on fourth and long ill be glad to play ya sometime...(when i get mine fixed cause it over heats)

Holy GOD I hate it when people do that. Pisses me off more than anything. I play realistically. I mix the run and pass, play a variety of defense, and only go for it on 4th if it's critical.

I've had a guy (or probably child) go for it on 4th and 32 before...I'm not even kidding.

I kinda liked the speed rules thing. I mean I have broke off 100 yard runs with a player with 85 speed and 90 break tackle but I dont own any of the new maddens cause I was so disappointed in 08. I mean the Jon Beasons and Dwills of next year will suck cause of this but its typical EA Sports to take something that was right and screw it up cause of no competition but im sure people will keep buying there bugy games cause it the only NFL Football game out there.

Try throwing it four feet over his head and into triple coverage.

Works every time.

How it happens in real life.

My problem with Madden and EA's NCAA football games is the AI is super human at times, running sideline to sideline in the time it takes for you to snap it and drop back, being able to jump 15 feet in the air to bat a ball away from a receiver that had burned them, being able to place it precisely inbetween 3 defenders for a 60 yard TD pass, etc.

    • I just dont get the worry over losing a practice squad player that just went undrafted. Everyone just made their selections. The chances of a team wanting to sign him to an active roster after not selecting him is very low.  If that interested they would have taken him late to evaluate in person. As far as I can tell two qbs were signed off another teams practice squad last season and they were both going in to their 5th season.
    • I enjoyed reading this thread and the usual banter that follows. The only silver lining I can identify right now is we do actually have a couple of young QB's behind him and we do have a nice roster on both sides of the ball built around the most important position. So if the team overall shows some promise but we still falter largely due to a lack of consistent passing output (again) hopefully the decision makers can be free to make the best decision for the team going forward after the conclusion of this upcoming season.
    • I don't really follow the team anymore due to a variety of reasons and consequently have largely stopped posting but I agree that this is a lovely website and community. This forum probably kept me around for years longer than I would've stuck otherwise because of how difficult it was to stop checking multiple times a day. Especially appreciate how lax the moderation tends to be compared to a lot of places, the crew here does a great job. Out of curiousity I decided to try making a new account (solely for testing purposes) to see what exactly is wrong with the sign up process. The issue seems to be that it never sends you an account verification email, thus making it impossible to complete registration. This is likely something to do with the email server upstream, hope it gets fixed. Also, lol
