Is it time to admit....

...that we may officially have a Freddie problem?

It's a long season, to be sure but he is currently overwhelmingly the worst goalie statistically on the roster and in the midst of the worst statistical season of his NHL career in traditional stats, advanced stats and metrics.

So, what is the solution? Bench him for Kochetkov? Start looking at trade options?

His lateral movement is very very slow this year.... get him moving side to side and he cant get back in time to cover.

It’s now or never for Koochie. Freddie is flirting with a .7s save %.  Father times gets all athletes.

I know. It's not just the stats, it's the eye test too.

He dropped off some last year but I think the end is nigh.

Yeah, at worst, you find out that you need to go shopping before the trade deadline.

He should get less starts

I am perplexed he hasn't had that already.

This is Rod's true weakness as a coach. He really has a tough time managing goaltenders well. I know he gets poo for other things(largely unfairly, IMO) but he really is bad at this.

Classic weakness, the Fox,Rivera Rod too loyal to aging stars....

I'm not sure who would be available thats actually an upgrade over Kooch/Bussi.

And for once we are in complete agreement, its not just the #s its the eye test, his lateral movement and reactions seem to be appreciably slower.....  I know we still don't have Slavin but at this point Kochetkov should be getting the majority of the starts hes hot right now and wise choice is ride him while he is.

I think Kochetkov is hurt at the moment. That's anothet concern. He hasn't been able to stay healthy.

I've been saying this for a couple weeks now. Even if you're not a stat geek, you can watch the games and see he's not performing close to what we've seen over the years.

Yes, Kochetkov is hurt, but he won't be forever and I think it's time to move on and call Kochetkov and Bussi your 1 and 2.

With $11M in cap space, the Canes have an opportunity.

I mean, do you try and move him to another team before the trade deadline? I don't see how you can't if that is an option.

Preds are looking to move Marchessault & Stamkos.

Canucks are looking to unload a handful: Boesser, Elias Pettersson, Jake DeBrusk, Conor Garland.

I, for one, wouldn't turn my nose up at Marchessault, Boehner or Garland. Even DeBrusk.

    • It will be really interesting to see how both sides handle this. I'm sure the team would love to get him signed to a 4 year deal based on his output so far and some potential factored in, i.e. something like a 4 year $30 million contract.  But I could see his agent telling him the best path is to take the one year offer, put up a big year next year and then really cash in. The team also has to keep in mind T-Mac's 2nd contract, which likely will happen after the 2027 season assuming he keeps improving as expected.  Even if we could get him on a budget 4 year deal for what he could become, the problem then becomes when he wants to re-negotiate in 2 years during the same summer we will extend T-Mac, and you don't want to spend that much on WRs in one offseason, just see the Bengals this last year. Taking everything into consideration, I'm thinking the 1 year deal and then getting him to sign a 4-5 year deal after hopefully say a 800ish yard season next year might be best for our cap situation and separate his and T-Mac's negotiation periods.
    • And yet jax made it no further than we did, and its very possible the Pats don't either. I think it speaks more to the overall down year for the nfl as far as having great/dominant teams, every team this year has fatal flaws that can be exploited
    • Ehhh I agree the nfc is stronger this year but their really werent any truly dominant teams this year everyone is flawed, I think the narrative for the NFL this year will to try ahd force a Josh Allen SB win
