I already had a DL penciled in for this draft but now it's practically guaranteed. It went from a quiet need that a lot of people were overlooking to a pretty pressing need without Robinson.

It is a pressing need, but there are several pressing needs. I would still think that OL, LB and Safety are just as important, if not more.

Ashawn is solid but for 12m a year we can find similar production for much less. If we can't find a trade partner, I'd be open to bringing him back at a much lower number but me personally I wanna see more reps for Bobby Brown and Cam Jackson. It is what it is with Tershawn Wharton that was a massive overpay by Morgan and Brandt but his contract is structed to where we can get out pretty clean next offseason so at least let's give him this year to see if he can turn it around.

Right or wrong nobody seems to use the type of NT used 10-20 years ago.

Many starting NT make ours look huge.

Evero prefers that smaller NT. I think the reason they don't use that many of the Wilfork style NT is there just aren't enough of them to go around. 360-375 is a lot of weight to sling around, and there aren't a lot of guys that can play dominantly at that size with the power needed to demand double teams consistently.

Even with Star/Short, Star ate an extra lineman most plays and that freed up Short 1v1.

I prefer a 4-3 with ball hawking LBs. To me, it's just more versatile because the hub of your defense isn't revolving around the health and dominance of a single D lineman. Also, with only a few between the tackle power backs, the run game has changed as well with a lot more dump offs and short yardage passing.

I've heard the smaller NT, Ive also watched his defense get blasted on run defense for nearly 80% of the games. I mean that whole year without brown, that was the worst Panthers defense in history, I was embarrassed for them. Brown carrys this whole unit like Rico did for a few games, just brown does it for the whole year.

get a MOF like this in the middle and alllll of sudden the brown, horn, Wallace etc jobs get lots easier.....

We are going to have a lot of 7th round picks this draft

from trading back??

I think Dan knows after mid-5th every teams board is different and its basically UDFA time. Dan and his team have had good success in the UDFA pool, very aggressive and they get some of best ava. I mean Thor, Richardson, Fitz, harrsion-hunte, bam, and Coker. That's legit as comes for UDFAs....others are still here in the PS too.

    • Nobody played well on defense last night. But, the vitriol towards Chatfield (and to a lesser extent, K'andre) is bigly misplaced. People (not just you) just refuse to accept how bad Slavin has been this season. And, I get it. Canes fans (and informed analysts) have spent nearly a decade trying to explain to casuals just how good Jaccccob is at hockey. 4Nations happened and the hockey watching public started to listen. National media even started floating the idea of creating a new award in his honor. Then this season, he gets hurt. It happens. NBD. But, when he finally came back, it wasn't the same. He'll get back to his old self in no time. Probably just some rust, it'll be fine. Only, it wasnt rust, and he's not fine. He's bad right now. It wasnt just last night. Although, that was absolutely the worst game of his NHL career. Slavin (-4) currently has the 3rd worst +/- of anyone left in the playoffs. We've  been begging the world to recognize Jaccob Slavin's greatness. And, by the time we finally got people to listen, he shits the bed! I blame Kash!
    • According to Scott Fowler, in an article about former Panthers announcer applying for a job with the Ravens... what that job pays, incidentally, when the Ravens posted it publicly they said the salary would be $4,000 to $5,000 per game. An NFL season consists of 20-24 games, including the preseason and potential playoff games, so it will end up somewhere between $80,000 and $120,000 a year. The person hired will be an independent contractor, which is commonplace in the NFL these days for team broadcasters, and also have other radio and TV hosting assignments.  https://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/nfl/carolina-panthers/article315839800.html
    • That’s a good find. We will see. Who is still here from when he was?
