Dareus has to be the pick. I've been saying it for weeks now. If we go DT it has to be Dareus.

That's a big IF. At this point there are about six or so guys I could see being legitimate choices for the new staff.

1) Marcell Dareus: obviously would fill a GAPING hole on our defensive line and if we bring back Charles Johnson he would give CJ a ton of space to wreak havoc.

2) A.J. Green: A freak at the WR position, has Megatron potential.

3) Julio Jones: See A.J. Green. I just am worried about his hands in college.

4) Patrick Peterson: Would give us a potential Revis type shut down corner and a big play threat in the return game that we've been looking for for years.

5) Blaine Gabbert: Depending on how he looks throwing the ball at his pro day this kid really could be an attractive option.

6) Da'Quan Bowers: If we lose Charles Johnson to free agency we will have to address the pash rush and he is IMO the best pass rusher in this draft.

At this point I'm leaning towards Dareus but these other guys should and will be in consideration.....

Good post, but I think Quinn is the best pass rusher in this class - remains to be seen how much the year off has hurt him...

True, but the overall 40 time is still a concern for a guy that's had that much time off to get ready.

Yeah, it's a little bit of a concern, but he will be drafted in the 1st round anyway. It's just too hard for teams to pass up a natural pass rusher like Quinn.

FTR, he was always one of the best at UNC's off season conditioning program, so this is not what I expected.

Yup, on tape he's the best 43 DE in this class.

To keep that in perspective, Marvin Austin had a better 10 yard split...

Marvin Austin just looks like he went into conditioning in August once he knew he wasn't going to play and he was on a mission. He threw up 38 reps, ran a 4.8 and has just looked like a monster in drills. Most mocks had him in the early third round, after today I'm not sure he makes it out of the first....

    • Hey if they could beat Seattle… tiebreaker head to head over GB, LARms, Seattle… win out the record is 11-6.  Now rap my knuckles for suggesting we win out, but that would be some funny poo. Talk about sneaking up on people.
    • I expected 6 wins this season. I need to see the Panthers blow by that now that they exceeded it by 1. I like how Canales has schemed around the weaknesses on offense in the passing game. I am impressed with the receivers, run blocking, running back combo and secondary communication in zone. Defense and QB need more consistency. The improvement of the defensive play calling and critical 3rd down and 4Q passing when trailing is going to be what I am looking for going into the playoffs. If the Panthers can consistently regain the lead after trailing over the next 4 games, I can see them competing in the playoffs and worth a reevaluation of the last 2 seasons' weaknesses. This is the prove it or lose it moment in their Panthers careers for Young and Evero. No excuses.
    • He's on the smaller size for a center (5'8" 175lbs) and he is a bit of a liability in the faceoff circle. But, he's a proven 60 pt player with room to grow. I'd still rather go get TT from Buffalo. Rossi would be a great consolation prize, though.
