In the draft you should NEVER tip your intentions to anyone until it's time for the picks to be made.

He's also said he has charisma and charm and basically implied he enjoyed interviewing him and he rarely spares a chance to ask a question about him to our higher ups.

Whether he knows he's a #1 QB or not has nothing to do with if he likes him or not.

He sure does, but I think there's more to it than that. Maybe Newton not only has a hype train, but is also likable to many media personalities. Maybe his charisma and enthusiasm are infectious. Maybe Gantt actually likes him based on the interactions he's had with him.

He probably also realizes that, like you said, he has a huge hype train and hitching himself to it a bit is good for getting publicity :P

a bout a month or so ago, gantt put out an article about who the panthers would take, with cam newton being labled as no shot to be drafted. now a days he's really changed his tune which could mean he's been told by the coaches how much they like Newton.

Well I do know one thing - Gantt gets it right a lot of the time when it comes to the draft. If Gantt is confident that Newton will be the pick, I can live with that. Newton it is.
