Hurney, Rivera Looking like IDIOTS

1) They didn't go to Mallett's but brought him in. Sent Shula instead, and Mallett was at least at one point still in consideration.

2) ESPN did claim Rivera was there at one point, but that has since been retracted. Perhaps something happened?

3) We were surely in attendance even if not with our big guns.

4) We've got a private workout with the guy on saturday.

5) Maybe they already decided they wanted or didn't want him and this is all just a formality either way.

I don't doubt it. I have heard all the crazy praise he's getting. I'm pissed that all I've seen of it is a 30 second clip while ESPn gave me the lovely chance to sit through 8 hours of Auburn pro day. >: |

I think we saw what he did and I'm sure the Panthers know how he looks. I almost wonder if they heard he was throwing to a bunch of "no name" WRs and assumed it wouldn't be worth going to in person and could just watch film so they scheduled a private workout with Ricky Proehl running routes instead.

Might want to look at http://blogs.nfl.com/2011/03/17/gabbert-answers-questions-about-accuracy/?module=HP_headlines and http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/don_banks/03/17/blaine-gabbert-pro-day/index.html#ixzz1GtfZ6rzc if you haven't yet. first is Gil Brandt going crazy over a guy he spent the last month downplaying, second is Don Banks with some comments from OCs that were there.

    • I agree.  I don’t think I have ever been accused of being a Howell fan. No more than fan of some other random QB.   But I watched and I saw. He has some talent. Maybe I didn’t watch close enough to see his weaknesses.
    • He is a pit bull when it comes to that.  And after he missed out last year on Williams, it seems he is trying a different approach, looks like. Don’t hold back. No half measures, because someone will come and full measure your ass. Close the deal. He left a little opening for The Patriots last year.  He closed so far this year. Of what we know about.
    • They have been doing the mercenary one year RB now for a little while. Foreman..  It works pretty well. You can find ball carriers. The passing game trips a lot of those guys up. Pass blocking, route running, they have a lot to know.    Rico wasn’t a great pass blocker but he got in the way most of the time. He is a really good pass catcher.     He’s tough. Needs to find out why he was cramping late in the games. If he can fix that maybe can step up even more. Wish him luck. I think he’ll do well.    If Brooks can be something, what a bonus that would be at this point.  I really believe they went for him because of his extra layer with being a good receiver. And we need more of that with what we are working with trying to move the ball.
