Fine. But it's a pretty common argument (TEACHERS SHOULD MAKE MORE MONEY THAN BASKETBALL PLAYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) that doesn't aptly compare the situation at hand here.

The players don't want to take a pay cut just for the sake of taking one, especially if they're asked to work more than before. Not sure why there's so much hatred on this board towards them for that.

A lot of it probably stems from jealousy or a poor understanding of the situation IMO.

While I've heard the argument and would agree, that isn't what started the thread. You have the wife of a multi-millionaire essentially crying herself a river as if to say the world is so unjust against them. Virtually everyone else is asserting that a little perspective on how good they have it would see her shut the fug up and be happy with how good she has it.

Hate to be Captain Obvious here, but what do you expect a "gold digger" to say? She is a little past her prime so jumping on a MLB or NBA athlete is kind of out of the question! She is just now standing in the welfare line now that her attributes have grown a little to old.................Im sorry, Im going to hell for that observation

You're not I am.:D

My stance would be that these are people in a work force attempting to negotiate the best deal possible, and they are in those negotiations with owners attempting the same thing. I don't feel sorry for either side because they are here of their own volition. At the same time, they have all risen to the top of a very difficult business and I do not begrudge them for being in a position to barter for such stakes.

Some former football players have have horrible circumstances, and there should be remorse for them in my opinion. Just as their should be for many veterans and civil servants. Should more be done for crippled players in a league that makes 8 billion a year? Probably. Should more be done for those injured in the service of their country? Definitely. Do they have anything to do with one another right now? Not really. Is this lady a moron trying to play on the sympathies of a country that she clearly doesn't understand. poo yeah.

I think this is article is a stupid play for public sympathy and hopefully some leverage, but I don't think it invalidates an entire union or league attempting to get the best terms available to them. No matter how misguided I think Mrs. Fujita is, or how much I dislike her cheapshot loving husband.

    • if  ANYONE actually goes & looks at the FACTS on rookie Qb's after 2 full seasons as a starter in the NFL & they are still well below average do they rarely ever actually become top tier Qb's & instead most likely either do not recieve a second contract & or become life long backups...just saying
    • So he became GM and decided not to address the weakness in the QB room following one of the worst rookie QB performances in NFL history?  There were options last season other than signing Dalton to a 2 year deal. Brissett and Jones by a wide margin, both of whom outplayed Bryce, Wilson, Winston, hell even Rivers off the couch was more exciting at the QB position. The time to address the failure in the QB room was last year but instead people on the Huddle cheered when we brought Dalton back then cheered when we were able to get anything for him after they finally realized he was washed up like a few of had been saying all along and got poo'd for even mentioning.  This year, the options were more limited obviously, especially since we lost Icky. It changed the dynamic of our draft. I think we were stuck this year keeping Bryce, but i still think giving him a 5th year option for what has amounted to replacement worthy performance was the wrong move. Why guarantee 25m if you're planning to replace him? You think he's going to want to be a bridge QB? Hell no. He's going to want out and we'll end up cutting him if he has another lackluster season because no one is trading for him with that price tag.  Were there better options as far as production available. A couple. Were there guys available with more physical tools than Bryce, Pickett or Grier, you damn well better believe there were. I've been saying all along, you always keep looking for your 1b. Bryce has yet to prove he can be a starter. Keep looking for someone who may. Put competition in camp. Let the best QB lead the team. Stop settling for less than mediocre.
