LOL I have a HUMONGOUS 900 sq ft house....

I wish I had a gas furnace with AC backup, but my house is too damn small! My heat pump runs all day long when its 32 degrees outside...I HATE IT!

Which do you think is best, oil furnace, propane furnace, or heat pump? I'm on a mountain so I don't have ac except in the office. We use ceiling fans and whole house fan. We're thinking about a better heat source. Right now it is oil. I'm seriously debating propane. I also would like passive solar (supplemental).

LP Gas Furnace is the way to go...get a 90+ effiency one though. You will pay a little more but its keeps your house warm, and hardly ever runs.

Also, one I always follow is when cutting grass around outdoor heat pump "condenser", turn off the system so fan doesn't draw in blades of grass and dirt into coils! Really.....I just turn off the fan and water hose away about 3 times a year! I'm bad about the filters myself and I'm a certified Universal Tech. the spent years in industrial refrigerator repair!

A ceritified technician should know that cutting grass around your unit has no effect on its performance. Ive even turned my fanblades with a simple stream of piss. These things are made for the outdoors. You cant really hurt them.

Edit: Actaully piss IS bad for your unit...never let your dog cock his leg up on it. It corrodes your coil. I pissed on mine in a drunken stupor :(
