I don't like/dislike Cam either way. As a prospect I think he will be a stud...just not for us. We don't have the experience to develop him properly. Young coaching staff and a lack of veterans at his position.

On the Pro-Cam/Anti-Cam debate. People need to remember that its the team you support, not the players. Why invest so much effort into loving/hating a player when you can't control whether we draft him or not. If you stay open-minded about every player in the draft you're not going to be disappointed, yes you can have your favourites but don't condemn others. Just makes you look like an idiot in the end.

Again, I appreciate all the support from you guys constantly riding my dick and keeping my name out there, I have to correct you on your stance sir.

First, I don't think we've ever met so I don't think you've seen me cry.

Second, I've commented many times how I'm basically emotionless and haven't cried in almost a decade.

Third, if you consider me talking openly about Cam Newton's issues as a QB and how I think they will transition to the NFL as crying, I'm sorry you are so close minded and can't comprehend an analysis that goes beyond a stat sheet.

Fourth, I've given Cam plenty of props and "Pro-Cam" posters here have even recognized it, no matter how much you try and spin it the other way.

Again, sir, I appreciate how much you hang on my every word and think about me all the time but you are going to have to try harder in the future for my attention. My plate is pretty full with Panthers55, Raging Bull, Teeray, LoyalPanthersFan, and whatever other flavor of the week decides they have a hard on for me.

Because he cheated on his pro day by doing a workout with (gasp!) WR's that he's used to. Some folks can't abide that.

because while it was an obvious improvement over his combine effort it was not all that great overall and it was not usually what you see from a QB who is going to go #1 overall... Normally you expect near perfection in shorts with no defenders throwing to guys you know... but I think he may also have not been feeling well based on how he looked between throws and stuff.

it was fine, he did what he had to in order to show he was working at it and it did not hurt him, but it wasn't the best pro day for a QB even this year. so far it sounds like that may have been one of the second tier candidates, Mallett, or Gabbert, depending on who you believe. Luckily for Newton, Pro Days aren't the be all and end all.

Posted in another thread...the following are the reasons I prefer Cam:

1) I love the way he throws the ball in game situations. We aren't talking combine or pro day, just what he has done in-game

2) He has consistently shown an ability to lead his team from behind against good competition

3) He performs well under the pressure of a pass rush

4) He has prototypical size and arm strength

Gabbert fits number 4. He does not fit numbers 2 or 3 at all. As to number 1, while he does throw the ball well, sometimes he tends to have a bigger windup than necessary, which makes the ball come out a bit slower

Note that none of these address running ability or athleticism.

Unless it's Cam Newton's pro day. It's funny how the anti Cam people won't even give him credit for throwing outside in the wind, while Gabbert did his indoors and still didn't complete every pass.

Again though...I just want a QB. It doesn't have to be Cam, although I do believe he has about 5 times the upside as the other candidates.
