Warren Sapp said that as a defender, the thought of facing a rookie QB had him salivating (he's against it).

Jeff Saturday said he was for it. However, Rich Eisen pointed out to Saturday that the only QB he's ever worked with is Peyton Manning, so his view might be a little skewed.

Eisen asked about the lockout affecting the ability of teams to work with new QBs. Saturday said they'll get a playbook one way or the other, rules or no rules (I agree on this point).

Saturday was pretty funny in that video. For that that haven't/won't watch it Saturday says he thinks (stutters and sounds like he almost said "hopes") Carolina will take Newton. If he was thinking "hopes" the question I have is whether that's the UNC alumni speaking hoping for the best for the team, or is it the player for another NFL team speaking hoping for the worst for the team.

Warren states that rookie QBs should wait and learn before starting. Jeff states that it shouldnt matter because when you put them on the field their newbies anway. Towards the end they bring up the lockout and Jeff says dont be surprised if QB prospects get playbooks. He mentions Newton for example

I havent heard that. Is there an article or video link?

He's said it a few times, generally when talking about Clausen.

Might have said it in his initial presser, but I don't remember for sure. Pretty sure it came up in his first interview on WFNZ.

It doesn't have to be an either/or thing. Say you have a rookie learning under a vet starter. Train the rookie up on a couple of packages where they can get a series in every now and then. Get them used to the speed of the game, while still having them spend most of their time watching and learning how to be a pro.

Once the rookie starts to catch on, you can begin to think about a larger role.

      Aggressive runner, hits the hole fast, and runs angry.  Just a few yards shy of the single game record for the team.  Absolutely phenomenal performance.  If the gameplan hadn't become weirdly pass heavy for the 3rd and first half of the 4th quarters he might have been flirting with 300.

      I felt that way before the season started, but I'm sorry, he's already proven he isn't that guy, I don't need to learn anything more about him. He threw the ball 30 times today and could only throw for 198 yards, which was his 2nd best yardage game this year, he's just not the guy. Which means this season has already moved onto the 2nd most important thing going into this season after evaluating Bryce, and that's developing our best young players. You don't do that by only throwing 8 of your 30 passes to your best player who is still only a rookie.  Pepper him with targets and help develop him so he's ready to take a huge leap next year when we get a real HC and QB to get him the ball.

      Every win comes from a non-sustainable source.  As CRA mentioned, Penix absolutely imploding against ATL, and then today, defense finally clicked and looked the best they’ve looked in a long time (and still have up 24 points lol) and Rico ran for 200+ yards.  We’re not going to get that every week, especially against good teams, which neither Miami or ATL are.  Both MIA and ATL are bad teams and Bryce still couldn’t get it together.  The defense (and team) had to overcome 14 points because of his turnovers again.  That was not even an average QB performance.  We are winning in spite of him.
