Doesn't matter who at #1, Moore/Clausen/Vet will start

Recommended Posts

Some people might not understand this. If we do draft a QB he will need to sit for a year. In that case, Moore/Clausen/Vet will be starting. If we don't draft a QB then Moore/Clausen/Vet will be starting. So ether way, Moore/Clausen/Vet will more than likely start. If the coaching staff feels the need to throw a unprepared rookie QB into the fire (like last season) then we will just see another repeat of last season (Clausen 2.0). It might be just me, but drafting a rookie QB (especially in this draft class) and expecting him to start (even after a few games) is like asking us to David Carr our QB.

I'm all for a franchise QB, hell I've wanted one for years now, but there is no franchise QB's in this draft AT ALL. Next years draft will have 3 Top 10 QB's (all franchise material: Luck,Barkley,Jones). Even some mid-late first rounders, all better than what we have to pick from this season.

The top 10 QB's being discussed in this years draft class would be drafted late 1st - mid 2nd round next season.

So as painful as it is, Rivera/Hurney, please just wait one more season.

If Clausen got 'thrown to the fire' we should start him and find out for sure if we have wasted a second rounder or fuged him up somehow. Or we should test Moore again for that matter. Drafting a QB is still a smart move.

Yeah, next season. Drafting a QB this season is like playing black jack, trying to reach 21 while you already have 20 in your hand.

LOL CarolinaCatBrigade has chrystal ball. Can see future.

Go back and read the scouting reports on Big Ben. Almost all of them say he would need a year or two to adjust bc he came from a small school and/played in a spread and never took snaps under center.

17 td passes and a Super Bowl later Big Ben proves you have no idea until they get to camp to determine how long it will take to adjust to the NFL game.

Will Cam transition that fast??? Maybe, maybe not. I am not presumptive enough to think I know exactly what the future holds for any QB.

Just like nobody knows whether this class is any better or worse than next years class until they play in the NFL. A report yesterday said as many as 8 QBs could be taken in the first 3 rounds. As far as anybody knows this could end up being the best QB class in history.

No one knows the future of these players.

I love how people compare Newton to Big Ben. Considering they both have off the field issues, and both hurt their teams in the playoffs.

But yeah no one knows what's going to happen but quite of few of us want a vet like McNabb or Palmer to mentor whomever takes over the reigns in the near future.

If it's just Moore/Clausen/Cam imo it will be an open competition.

What experience do you gain by sitting on the bench watching terrible quarterbacks?

How do you prepare yourself by riding the plywood come Sunday?

If you honestly believe a starting rookie QB would do just as good as the same rookie QB who sits and learns under a qualified vet (none currently on the roster) then you sir do not know football.

Of course this has a few exceptions (Bradford, Ryan to name a few).

I doubt that will be the lineup. We will bring in a qualified veteran QB. We have too.

It would more likely be Vet/Clausen/Rookie (if we drafted a QB). IMO it will be Vet/Moore/Clausen.

I agree. I never said Moore/Clausen had to teach them. A veteran could do that. You don't have to start in order to teach. A veteran pick up in FA (whenever that may be) will be a key offseason move.

but who's to say that our current qbs can't be "taught"? what's the point of adding another rookie. and what about AARRMMAANNTTII!!

Best case scenario for the Panthers is Clausen starting and playing well, while Newton sits and learns the NFL game. In the off season, Clausen will demand at least a second in trade value, maybe more.

If we take Newton and he has to start by midseason, it probably means we aren't doing well.

    • This season only ends one way... We win this Sunday. Bryce is decent. We take back 1st place...   Only to then get our brakes blown off in the last two weeks.
    • Here's one of the most maddening things, that will be shown in full light over the next three weeks. The same people around here that called Darnold a bum and Mayfield a washed up over draft are also the ones saying Bryce is a catastrophe. Yeah, and I've been one who said Bryce wasn't big enough, brave enough or capable enough. I said back in the day that Darnold had a lot of fight in him and got shouted down. And on Mayfield, heck I didn't know, I just knew we had a very, very bad team that was run terribly. But I saw both of those guys go out there and resurrect their careers and be play-off bound since shaking the Carolina clay dust off their cleats. And we sat there and cat called their cars as they pulled out of the parking lot, laughing at what nobodies they were. Over the next three weeks, those two guys may just serve us sh!t sandwiches and then settle down to their just desserts. And then we'll probably let Bryce go off into the realm of other teams. And when that happens, will we see him coming back, better than before and we're left to re-sit this cycle all over again? Same naysayers, same results, same revolving carousel of ponies and pundits?  Will we end up looking like the Temu version of the San Diego Chargers back in the day watching Drew Brees come to fruition in the previously moribund Superdome while we whiff on a Manning pick just to be jilted for Phillip "Always a Bridesmaid" Rivers?
