Potential reaction from "Carolina Crazy V2" if we draft someone with the first overall pick?

I am not looking forward to all the pissed off people who bitch and moan that we didn't trade out of the first pick. And then those ignorant shmoes who have no clue behind the scenes blaming MH for not doing so.

People so casually suggest that we "should just trade down," almost like it's only up to the Panthers and not actually the trade partner initiating the trade.

you don't trade for the simple fact of trading... you trade when you can get something of more value than what you have, which at this point does not seem to be offered to Carolina. It takes at least 2 teams to make a trade happen and with the Panthers being the only willing team at this point, you can't fault them for not making one happen. If anything I commend them for not giving in (yet) to any short-sided trade offers. Whether or not this ship stays on course... we have a few weeks to find out.

If we actually had the ability to trade players with draft picks, I think it would be very viable to trade down.

In this instance, though, I don't see it. The Panthers would basically be asking for a swap of 1st round picks and a 2nd from a team wanting to move up a few spots. I don't see any other team with that big of a hunger to move up that they'd give up their second round for it.

      This is what I mean. I am not some huge BY fan. I honestly don't look at QBs the way a lot of you guys do. Right or wrong, I've always looked at them as just another cog in the machine. Didn't want BY or even a trade up for a QB in 2023. We saw in the Super Bowl how important the rest of the team is on any given Sunday. Now... so PFF, who has no reason to prop up BY, says he's first in 2 stat lines and Panthers "fans" are arguing why it's either wrong or a made up stat just to make BY look good. Even though they have multiple stat lines where he's literally last in. Like 32nd in the NFL. Some he's even lower than 32. Take a step back. Try to objectively self analyze. This is just not sensible.  Same thing I see with other teams' fans and their QBs though. We analyze every single throw on every single play. For every other QB, most here are only using highlights to judge. Makes a difference. We saw Stafford miss throws when they played Carolina - both games. We saw Love throw crap up when they played Carolina. We saw Dak miss throws when they played Carolina - and Pickens was putting on a SHOW. We saw Josh Allen win a game with 163 yards passing against Carolina, but if BY does it he's crap and can't pass for 200 yards. Gents... come on.

      None of us think we're contenders this season but no reason we're doomed to 5 or 6 wins either. Dan has to have another 2025- like draft class and at least 2 key free agent signings. We're not Seattle but they don't win without 5 starters from their last 2 draft classes and Darnold and Lawrence in free agency.  Alas,  we'll have to wait one more season for a QB upgrade.
