Any business owners?

maybe I should already know this, but I don't, so sue me!

any of you own and operate your own business?

If so, would you care to share what it is and if it's profitable?

It's something I've often thought of doing myself, either a resort type thing or a sports bar/restaurant type thing.

My biggest problem is I have a pretty good job, even though I don't enjoy it at all anymore, but the money, benefits, security etc etc is all really good. I'm chicken to walk away.

I don't own a company, but I work at a small one that sells/supports software. Great margins in software. High cost for intellectual property and a dvd(or maybe not even that)

If you are doing a restaurant I have heard keep the variety of food needed small to cut down on waste and get cheaper prices.

If you do franchise you will most likely have to start up 2-3 to make the income you do now, but you'll have tax breaks so...

Anything you can get a government grant for is great too. Free money for just a decent(what I hear) business plan..

that's all I got

I'm amazed how much consultants get to give their crappy opinion. I know some people analyze company networks, long distance, and data centers and get a % on the efficiencies they help implement. Save a million take home 100k. Lots of waste out there...

I co-owned and operated a small business from age 18 - 21. Event promotion, online record store, and physical-location record store. We were profitable but took very minimal salaries and all profits went back into growing the business. It was basically just something to have fun with and learn from while I was young and debaucherous.

I work for a small business now (12 employee consulting firm). I do some consulting work on the side as well, but that's not a huge income stream. Just take things as they come along. Charge a nominal hourly fee. Have considered going out on my own, but like you, have a salary, great benefits, and a fear of being unable to build a sustainable income stream and establish myself at a relatively young age in a very good-old-boy-driven business.

    • Even if he beats the odds, returns midseason  and plays like he did last year it won’t warrant a big contract extension.
    • It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
