Wow, great episode, hell I was thinking that it was a really good episode BEFORE the red wedding. I thought the wedding was really well done, there was a rather ominous tone to the whole affair so you assumed something may happen, but it was all going so well that I was still blindsided by the scale of brutality .

Reflecting on the characters who died- it is so awesome and unique for this to happen on a TV show.  It would be much harder to kill off "the good guy" on a successful TV show without the source material already written because of the public outcry.

Oh yeah, and Robb was a really boring character and I've disliked Cat for a while.  Now he just needs to kill off the fat guy up north

Yes lol you are.

Namely.

Jon Snow, Arya, Sansa, Bran, and Rickon. :)

Ned, Kat, Rob are dead.

2 of the 7 dire wolves are dead.

The latter, a greater loss IMO.

Yeah, after speaking to some book readers, they said the same. Don't know much about Rickon as he barely got much exposure. Arya seems like the most dangerous one and Bran might be if he finds the Raven. lol Sansa.

So at what point in the books will we be after the finale? I kinda want to read from that point on. I tried starting at the beginning once and just couldn't get excited while reading because so much was the same.

The show is currently in about the middle of book 3. But you'd need to start from the beginning of book 3 because it jumps around a bit in it.

if i'm recommending a general place for a show watcher to start, i think Clash of Kings is the first book different enough to really be a unique experience from the show. season 1 is pretty faithful to the first book even as far as taking a lot of the dialogue right from it. season 2 starts to deviate a lot and you get a way better picture from the book of a lot of characters, like Renly (who absolutely owns Stannis in their encounter which is left out of the show) and Loras and others.

You can start at book 3 if you really don't care about Renly, or who Robb really married, or that it's only strongly implied that Stannis cheats on his wife.
