It's fairly easy to see that the show has become it's own animal. It took it a few seasons to get there, and I'm actually a little surprised with some of the stuff that has been done so far this season. Season one was an almost word for word and scene for scene re-enactment of the first book. It was good, and fun to see the book come to life, but it wasn't exciting for anyone that had read the book, IMHO. I'm kind of glad that they are going off course a little. It will keep it fresh, and makes it fun to watch.

As long as they don't give it the Walking Dead treatment and create totally new main characters, and as long as they hit the main points (which so far they are), there's no big deal with taking some liberties and adding or deleting a scene here or there. Imagine if they had followed Bran's journey north by the book, that would have been incredibly snooze-worthy.

As others have said that was a good ep. I actually got into GoT for the plot/story and not so much for the sex & violence(tho that's a good bonus)

I don't feel sorry for Sansa at all because this is basically all her own doing basically.

Still don;t fully understand Brann's story-line but I guess that will become clearer down the line.

Didn't really see Lysa x Littlefinger(were there clues I missed?). And that was indeed a major reveal.

I think Dany made the right choice to stay. She needs to mature before going to Westeros.

locke's death was pretty useless. why even have him there.

They are trying to keep the budget in check, so instead of using CGI or hiring more actors they are going to use some of these devices from here on out to get to the same point. in this case it was to have an event that allowed Bran to warg into Hodor and use him as a weapon while not using a lot of CGI or new actors. Locke likely has no more to do for the overall arc of the story so why not use an actor that is already being paid to be the threat and to kill him off in an important way.

The show runners have recently said you can expect more of this to keep the budget down to use on other CGI heavy events (like dragons) and to keep the cast manageable.

So we should probably get used to some of these things.

I'm not following this at all.  She's pretty much been forced into any situation she's been apart of...unless you're referring to the fact that she initially wanted to go to King's Landing in the first season.  Even so, what high-born girl wouldn't want to go?

locke's purpose could have been filled by one of the brother's of the night's watch.   none of it made sense.  HEY THIS GUY JUST SHOWED UP YESTERDAY LETS TAKE HIM NORTH OF THE WALL AND KILL OUR BROTHERS.

I don't know.  A lot of things had to come into play in order for Bran and Jon not to see each other.  I can't see how the writers would have avoided this If it had been another brother of the Night's watch.  At least they actually put some thought behind it.  Locke was up there to spy on the remaining Starks and wanted to prove his worthiness by volunteering.

Probably to give some resolution to the character who chopped off Jaime Lannister's hand instead of being like "_whatever happened to that guy". Plus the scheme to capture Bran for trade bring further context to the Bolton's ambitions and plans.

I didn't have a problem with it at all.

it could have been rast dragging him off as a hostage for negotiation...or any of the brother's holed up at crasters

i wasn't referring to the ones with jon

Ahh, okay.  Now I agree with you.  I thought the same thing before last night's episode.

As for the Sansa thing, who would have known that Cersei was going to be such a you-know-what.

Plus, we now know that it's really Littlefinger's doing.
