Question About the Carolinas

Captroop

Recommended Posts

If and when I make my next career move, I may decide to look for jobs in North Carolina. So where do the young professionals live and work in Carolina? Somewhere with a good night life, hot twenty-somethings, etc. Maybe somewhere with a slightly left of center leaning, but let's not go nuts. I'm souring on Maryland because it's getting too damned liberal... and this is me talking.

I don't think you'll go wrong living in or around either Raleigh/Durham or the Charlotte areas. I read an article last year that had raleigh as the No. 1 and Charlotte was No. 3 nationally for transplant growth and areas for young professionals. I personally would live just outside charlotte where the cost of living is much lower and drive into town for work.

yeah, Charlotte people are going to swear they have it going on..

there is a lot more variety in Raleigh..

Charlotte doesn't even have a comedy club!!!!!!!!!!!!

fact, Raleigh is where all young professionals go to live..

A comedy club? As in one? God, I can't even imagine the concept that there's one of anything. You ask someone around here, "Hey, where's that rooftop tavern, with the revolving bar and furniture on the ceiling that has Pony Play enthusiasts meetings on Tuesday" and they'll probably say, "The one on the Waterfront, the one in Dupont or the one in Rockville?"

Hoo boy, this is going to be an adjustment.

all I found were places for amateur walk-ons.. The only comedy show that I could find was Doug Benson at Blumenthal.. and that was the only show I could find that month that we could have went to see.

what place did I miss that has comedians every weekend?

    • To me, this seems like they feel they aren't going to be competitive. I can't help but go back to Bryce. Good guy, but he doesn't inspire people to give it their all. He isn't a "leader" that people look to. There is no Smith, Delhomme, Kuechly, Cam, etc. coming in that door.  It has to be Bryce, but biologically speaking, how often is the shortest man in the room going to command the kind of respect that will drive people? It just isn't. That isn't how we are wired. That isn't how any living animal on Earth today is wired.  I just follow the science guys.
    • Vick's issue with Reid was that he couldn't take a hit, and he wouldn't go down. Otherwise he was pretty good much of the time.  Mahomes has a system that works. Mahomes doesn't become Mahomes elsewhere because not everyone can extract 125% of the ability of a specific player like Reid can. Kevin O'Connell is beginning to look like he has that ability as well but I'll need to see how he does with his Redshirt Freshman.  I also wonder how much of their playoff issue last year was related to the offense as a whole and not just Darnold. Fans don't really dive into the "why" things happen, they just see the what and complain about it.
