If smitty wanting out is true, does our draft strategy change?

I think if our mind is set on taking Newton remember Hurney and his staff didnt do all of that investigating for anything now. I think they are sold on QB at number 1. But i would also like Green but he might not have anybody to get him the ball so then what? Thats why you go with the Quarterback at number 1. We can pick up a vet at wideout easily then we can for a QB.

...specifically, where does this leave the prospect of drafting AJ Green? on the surface it would seem like a great move. lose smitty, gain a likely elite receiver that could be on the team for a decade.

No. Drafting re actively is stupid and Green isn't worth 50 mill.

Well that's where you're wrong. Matt Moore would be QB, so we'd have about 6,000 TD's and 800,000 yds receiving.

okay, but let's say there is a realstic possibility Moore isn't as good as he was coming back from his injury....

So that would again be Clausen with 0 TDs to WRs, 1 to Williams b/c defenders slipped and 1 to Shockey b/c they forget he played for Carolina now, 1257 yards, 874 throwaways

Jimmy Clausen banged CRA's girl, apparently...

Nah, I think a lot of people here must want to bang Clausen b/c there simply is no reason for these wild claims he doesn't suck to such great extremes his name should never be mentioned again for at least 3 years.

I enjoy football Sundays.....no reason for him to suck the joy out of it two years in a row. Carolina doesn't have to win for me to enjoy football.....just can't have someone that bad ruining it

Not going to beat a dead horse that was beaten for several weeks already, but I really really wish that Brown wasn't such a stubborn GM in Cincy. It's a perfect marriage between us and them. We swap spots with them, receive their 2nd and Palmer, and they get to move up to #1 and get Newton plus maybe we throw in a mid-rounder to balance it out. We would have a veteran QB which we need, and gives us time to evaluate Pickles. We draft AJ Green at #4 and have Green, Gettis and LaFell with a veteran QB to dish the rock out to them. Plus, we can address QB next year when the talent pool is much better. I won't "hate" the Newton pick because I think he will eventually succeed, but this trade would make us instantly better. Obviously this isn't going to happen, but damnit, it makes so much sense......haha.

Plamer is done. Did you not see him last year at BOA. He was the worst QB on the field and JImmy was out there.

Hell No to Carson.

    • Do you see the vision?  As of now our Carolina Panthers don’t have an identity. We are not an offensive powerhouse and on defense we only started getting it together towards the end of the year last year. In my opinion we are much closer to having an incredible defense that scares the daylights out of people. I say the answer is simple and we fully commit to that possible identity.    Emmanuel McNeil Warren (E man)  This guy is like a shark lurking around ready to attack anyone. Fearless. He is easily a top 20 talent in my eyes, and the only reason he isn’t more talked about is because he’s from Toledo. Do your due diligence as panther fans and watch his tape I beg you. Once you’re done watching let me ask you this, if you dropped E - Man into the strong safety spot on the Buckeyes, he isn’t being talked about as one of the best prospects we’ve seen in some time given the skill set you see with this guy? I think so. Put his name on the card and turn it in at 19.    Jacob Rodriguez  High effort, High energy, High IQ guy that flies around the field. We all know Jacob at this point. My only concern is he’s a little bit too good and I’m not sure he makes it to us at our pick in the second. With the additions of Jacob and E- Man I think our defense goes to top 5 in the league. We would have a duo of linebackers that rival anything we’ve had in our past. I’m not a GM so I don’t know what the possible answer could be, but if there’s a way we can comfortably trade up in the second to secure this guy I think we find a way to do it.    Spend the rest of our picks fixing the O - line.    Thoughts Panthers fans? Who’s the ideal duo for yall?
    • OL is arguably much more important to the success of a young QB. (Or any QB)
    • Didn’t get around to watching this one but looks like Pistons played their starters and actually tried…? Unlucky that they sit vs Magic, etc and try vs us. Hopefully we can beat the Heat and then Magic or 6ers with no Embiid. BUT if not, the NBA really should give us the lottery win this year like they did Mavs last year. Another high pick could be our final missing piece and have us as legit top contenders next year and going forward if we’re healthy. Or trade it for a Giannis type
