Don't let Home Depot do any work at your house

We had Home Depot install carpet in our sun-room a couple of years back and a year and one month later, it developed a ridge down the middle of the floor. Now the installation warranty was out, I know, however the amount of pucker in the carpet surely is due to poor installation. I called Home Depot to get this worked out and they refused to send someone out to re-stretch the carpet. They wouldn't even come out and look at it. I have argued back and forth for nearly a year and no satisfaction. I don't think I will have them do any labor for me in the future. The carpet itself is great. The workmanship sucks.

I let Lowes do a hot water heater install. They hire a local plumbing contractor to do the work, and I was suppose to call him direct if there were any problems. IMO, you should be calling the contractor that did the work, not Home Depot. But in my experience, most contractors will not come out once the warranty runs out, unless you pay them.

Home Depot sent them out and I have no idea who did the work. From what I hear carpet usually doesn't bunch up bad unless it wasn't put down correctly. This is bad enough to trip over. I'm just going to fix it myself. I've learned my lesson with box stores and will use my own contractor in the future.

Home Depot doesn't do the work, subcontractors do. You can also go back to HD to complain, but it may not matter now

If you use the honey rather than vinegar technique, you might be able to find out which subcontractor did the work and talk with them. Talk with the subcontractor and as a means of preserving their reputation, they might come out and take care of it.

My parents had some work done on their house via Home Depot and a bunch of people who didn't speak English did the work while no one else was there. They did the work wrong and were obviously doing it wrong and my parents couldn't tell them they were doing it wrong.

I told them to buy a English to Spanish dictionary but I think they just said screw it and learned their lesson.

    • It can happen but it’s nothing like the NBA. One player doesn’t make the difference in the NFL that one player can in the NBA. Also, there are just not the same amount of trades and even opportunities. Because the NFL isn’t just one stud away, you don’t get a lot of opportunities like Miami did with Tua or the Jets did with Zach Wilson. Both teams got multiple 1sts for players they traded (Jets had 5 1sts in 2021-2022 and Miami had 5 1sts in 2020-2021) and both got top 5 picks to select a QB. They both made some good and bad picks but Miami turned Tua into multiple playoff appearances even though Tua isn’t elite. Wilson was just so bad that the Jets still sucked. We had our opportunity in 2022 where we would have had 6 1sts and 4 2nds in 2023-2025 and probably had a top 5 pick in 2023 or 2024 for a QB without trading up. Unfortunately, Fitterer didn’t have the foresight to realize a full rebuild was necessary and when a team offers you 2 1sts and a 2nd for a non-QB like Tunsil and Burns, you take it. One thing I wish trades had in the NFL that they have in the NBA is protected picks. A moron like Fitterer could have a top 5 protected pick so his terrible GMing doesn’t accidentally give the Bears the #1 overall pick because the moron Fitterer incorrectly thought we were 1 player away from the playoffs.
    • Anyone that believes getting a couple late season wins to end the season at 4-13 while picking 9th in each round, other than 2-15 with the 1st pick in each round is not being realistic.  It happens nearly every other year, Jags gave the browns a insane package to move from 2nd to 5th. If not for late season pointless/everyone forgets late season wins the Panthers would have gotten that franchise changing package. Not to mention Panthers would have had Herbo and Sewell in other years, but nope. Do I need to bring up da bears??? The goal is long term winning in order to make the playoffs, one season to tank could spark it with a Burrow that's gets sacked 60 times on the way to a SB.  I want to win as bad as anyone, but the second the Panthers are eliminated from playoff contention, the ONLY solution is to lose the remaining games to gain a better chance to never do that again. No other answer.
