Will Steve Smith Stay ?

I feel what yall are saying but at the same time he's a leader the only person he gave a hard time last year was Jimmy and Fox and co. and they deserved it. We need that fire he plays with. if he doesnt want to be here fine he deserves to go to a super bowl contender. He could help us more if stayed than if he left. IMO I dont think he'll give Rivera or Cam any problems.

Yeah guys, he only gave a hard time to his bosses and the person who was supposed to be the undisputed leader on offense.

This guy's a team player.

Listen, I love Smith. He's been one of my favorite players to watch over the years. But if you're going to go 2-14 with Smith, than you might as well trade him while you can get something and leave both parties relatively happy.

Its not as easy for me I guess. I know he can be an ass but thats because he wants to win. No way can anyone convince he wasnt a leader on this team. He's just not as nice as to Jimmy as the rest of our team. If he goes we better no get raped.:incazzato: Everyone just take a look at my sig. Thats why we need him. First people diss Peppers for wanting to win now Smitty

I don't think anyone is "dissing" his desire to win; in fact, I'd say the vast majority of this board can empathize with him and admire that about him.

The point still stands that if he's not going to be happy here, we need to move on and see if we can get something for him.

You mentioned Peppers -- would you be happy letting Smith walk like Peppers did?

    • Does this mean only topics from within the last year or any topics with posts from the last year? i.e. if there are any old threads we feel should be kept around for whatever reasons, would a bump of that thread before the update ensure it's kept around in full or do the posts from more than a year old still disappear?
    • I'm more intrigued at him becoming our future LG. There were some people who thought he was better suited to be a guard in the NFL to begin with.  Then if Freeling ends up being a legit LT, moving Ickey to LG could give us an incredibly strong left side of our OL for years to come. Ickey has only played on the Left side his whole career, both in college and the NFL, so I just wonder if keeping him on the left side, even if shifting inside, would be better than putting him outside on the right side. Just hoping him growing up a Panthers fan will make him want to stay here and move positions than enter FA so he can stay at LT somewhere else, particularly since LT is the big money position on the OL, so he likely can get paid more by someone else to play LT than play LG or RT here for us.
