Our division getting scarier

Lumps

I predict both ATL and N.O. light it up offensively for next few yrs, having great REgular season records...

Then they will get pummeled in playoffs by the Detroit Lions D-Line. Ryan/Brees will have concussions before they get enough time to through the ball to their weapons.

*cough* Seahawks *cough*

Detroit is possible. One other poster and I both said Detroit is playoff bound in the next season or two, especially if Stafford can stay healthy. That defense is just going to be nasty. *sighs*

Let me lol you. They already had top offenses in the league and only made them better if these guys live up to the hype. So they basically sealed their offense and have decent defenses, oh of which we still have 6 rounds of the draft and FA left. So they still can address their defenses. We are in the same boat on defense. If they are screwed because they didn't go D in the first, so are we. But we are stacked with a project QB!!!!! lol

My comments had really nothing to do with going WR in the first. It was the price that they gave up.....gave up a ton of picks that could have been used to infuse defensive talent.

The only reason the NY Giants defeated the possibly the best team ever in the superbowl was because their DLine down the stretch in the playoffs.

Detroit should be twice as good as that Giants Dline. IMO, Suh will go down as greatest DT ever, Fairley has a high ceiling and should have an easy time with Suh next to him.

look, it's this simple. Our biggest need was QB, we used a single pick on a QB. Atlanta's biggest need is defense of some sort, more specifically a DE in my opinion. They spent 5 picks on a single WR. That's not the best idea, in my opinion. There's obviously a reason they get paid to make these decisions, but there's also obviously a reason message boards like this exist, for us all to express our opinions.

And our defense is easily better than theirs. Stats were similar and our defense was on the field a lot more than theirs, dealing with the offense giving up much better field position than theirs. Falcons gave up 332 yards per game, Panthers gave up 336. PPG allowed is a different story, but the YPG proves that's a result of field position the Panthers shitty offense gave up.

And the entire point of why the trade wasn't smart is they don't have much left to address their defense needs with. They have what, 3 or 4 picks left? A 3rd and the rest 5th or later. They better pray for a miracle in FA or they only helped an area that was already a strength. There's diminishing returns in a situation like that, there's only so many throws to go around, only so many offensive plays to go around. Better to help a weakness, biggest impact.

It's not so simple, if so everyone could be GMs. Both ATL and NO gave dearly for their picks, especially the birds. However, despite their price, they just made their offenses probably the top two in the NFC. Basically, they can outscore their way to the playoffs and possibly a Super Bowl.

We needed a QB and a slew of other things, so we take a project at #1 overall? I would have been MUCH more comfrotable with Cam if we could have traded down to the middle portion of round one. If you think ATL and NO look silly, we aren't looking too great either. We just don't get burned in later years with lost picks. They got IMMEDIATE upgrades, we didn't.

There is no guarantee that they will make more of an Impact then Newton. Jones for starters was far too inconsistent at Bama to be so assured of. I could see him never becoming a top WR. People fell in love with him at the combine. He drops the ball way too often to be given praise like he has this off-season. Not to mention how many Rookie WR's usually make an impact.

Ingram I could see that one. RB's often make an impact there rookie years and he does seem like an excellent compliment to Bush and that O in general. They could be scary but really weren't they already?

Newton if he starts could easily have a VY type rookie season. Use his legs to win us a couple more games then we would otherwise and let the speed of the game come to him. If he can pick up the playbook relatively quick he could easily be a ROTY candidate.
